Top-5 Matchup Sees No. 5 FSU Travel to No. 2 Notre Dame

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The No. 5 Florida State soccer team takes to the road for a top-five, nationally-televised matchup at No. 2 Notre Dame on Thursday, October 9, on ACC Network.
 
Kickoff at Alumni Stadium in South Bend, Indiana, is set for 7 p.m. ET. Thursday night will be a contest between two unbeaten teams that sit in first and second place in the ACC standings.

Florida State is 8-0-2 on the season and in second place in the ACC with 13 points and a 4-0-1 record after a 3-0 win over rival Miami on October 3. The Seminoles are 5-0-0 at home, 3-0-2 on the road and 1-0-0 against top-25 foes. FSU has shut out its opponent in eight of 10 games, with multi-goal victories in each of the eight wins. Notre Dame is 5-0-0 in the ACC and in first place with 15 points following a 3-1 win over No. 23 Louisville on Friday night.
 
Florida State has scored 31 goals with 32 assists on 187 shots and 79 shots on goal. In 10 games, the team has allowed two goals on 51 shots, 16 on target, with 14 saves, a 0.20 goals-against average and a .875 save percentage.
 
Sophomore forward Wrianna Hudson leads the team with eight goals, 16 points, 27 shots and 17 shots on goal. On an eight game point streak, junior forward Jordynn Dudley has a team-high seven assists and is second with four goals and 15 points. In goal, redshirt sophomore Addie Todd has 11 saves in her seven appearances for a .917 save percentage and a 0.16 goals-against average.
 
In the national rankings, FSU leads the country in goals-against average (.202) and shutout percentage (.800) and is No. 4 in goal differential (+29), No. 5 in points per game (9.40), No. 6 in goals per game (3.10) and assists per game (3.20), No. 8 in save percentage (.875) and shots per game (18.70) and No. 22 in shots on goal per game (7.90).
 
Individually, Todd leads the country in goals-against average (0.158) and is No. 3 in save percentage (.917). Dudley is third in assists per game (0.70) and Hudson is 10th in goals per game (0.80) and 23rd in shot accuracy (.630).
 
In the polls, Florida State moves up to No. 5 in this week's United Soccer Coaches top-25. The Seminoles also are fifth in this week's Top Drawer Soccer poll.
 
Several streaks were extended with Friday's win, as FSU's school-record stretch of games with a goal scored reached 65 consecutive games and its unbeaten streak in regulation or overtime is now at 20 consecutive games, now tied for third-best in program history. Florida State's home unbeaten streak reaches 33 games, No. 3 all-time, and its ACC unbeaten streak was stretched to 10 games in a row, now tied for No. 6. Individually, Todd has five consecutive shutouts, which is tied for fourth in the record books. The Seminoles also go to Notre Dame with a road unbeaten streak of seven straight games, which is tied for sixth in program history.
 
NATIONAL MIDSEASON RECOGNITION
Dudley and senior defender Heather Gilchrist were recognized on the 2025 Hermann Trophy Midseason Watch List, it was announced on Tuesday, October 7. They are two of 35 players on the midseason list for the award presented annually to collegiate soccer's national player of the year. Of the 35 players honored, Dudley is one of 15 forwards and Gilchrist is one of 10 defenders.
 
SERIES HISTORY VS. NOTRE DAME
Florida State is 10-5-1 all-time against Notre Dame, including 6-2-0 in ACC regular-season contests and 5-1-1 in the postseason. The Seminoles are 5-2-0 at home, 2-2-0 in South Bend and 3-1-1 at a neutral site. The two sides have played seven postseason contests, four ACC and three NCAA, including the opening round of the 2024 ACC Championship. FSU has won two in a row and is unbeaten in six of the last seven, with the one loss a 4-0 defeat in 2022 on the road. Thursday's game will be just the second time the two teams have met in Indiana since 2018, with three contests in Tallahassee and two in Cary, North Carolina, since then.
 
One year ago to begin the ACC Championship on November 3, 2024, Florida State earned a 2-1 home win. Marianyela Jiménez scored 1:51 into the game and Sophia Nguyen made it 2-0 in the 77th minute. Notre Dame got a goal back almost five minutes later, but the visitors could not get any closer. FSU had a 15-10 advantage in shots and a 6-4 edge in shots on goal as Todd made three saves. Dudley, who assisted on the opening goal, had a game-leading three shots.
 
SCOUTING THE FIGHTING IRISH
Notre Dame is 10-0-1 on the season and 5-0-0 in the ACC to sit in first place in the league with 15 points. The Fighting Irish are 7-0-0 at home, 3-0-1 on the road and 3-0-1 against top-25 opponents. Winners of nine in a row, ND downed No. 23 Louisville last Friday, 3-1. Also against ranked foes, Notre Dame beat No. 3 Duke 3-2 and No. 22 North Carolina 4-3, both at home. To conclude the opening weekend of the season, on August 17, the Irish posted a 2-2 draw at No. 6 Arkansas.
 
ND is ranked No. 2 in this week's United Soccer Coaches poll and No. 1 in the Top Drawer Soccer rankings.
 
The Fighting Irish have scored 39 goals on 36 assists with 210 shots, 98 on goal. The team has allowed 11 goals with 30 saves for a 1.00 goals-against average and a .732 save percentage. Izzy Engle leads the team with 12 goals, 28 points, 47 shots and 23 shots on goal. Annabelle Chukwu has eight goals and 18 points, while Grace Restovich paces the squad with six assists and is one of five players with double-digit points, with 10. In goal, Sonoma Kasica has made 29 saves for a .725 save percentage with a 1.05 goals-against average.
 
LAST TIME OUT: BACK HOME FOR A RIVALRY SHUTOUT
Two goals in 42 seconds helped power Florida State to a 3-0 win over Miami on October 3. The Seminoles held the Hurricanes to just three shots, all in the second half of a 3-0 game, as FSU scored all three of its goals within the first 29 minutes of regulation.
 
Returning to the pitch for the first time after 11 days off, and back home for the first time in nearly a month, Florida State improved to 21-4-0 all-time against its in-state rivals. The Seminoles have won six in a row in the series, and nine of the last 10, with a 22-2 scoring margin in the stretch that began in 2013.
 
Sophomore forward Solai Washington scored the game's opening goal in the 12th minute, her second of 2025, both game-winners. Freshman midfielder Nyanya Touray netted her first collegiate goal to make it 2-0 in the 29th minute, and Dudley made it 3-0 just 42 seconds later with her fourth goal of the campaign. Dudley also had an assist to notch her second three-point game of the year.
 
FSU out-shot UM 22-3, including a 14-0 advantage in shots on goal. The home side earned four corner kicks and held the visitors without one. Dudley registered a game-high six shots and Washington had five, four on frame. Todd did not face a shot on goal.
