TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 9 Florida State baseball team begins the 2025 season at home against James Madison from February 14-16 at Dick Howser Stadium in Tallahassee, Florida.
 
Opening Day is Friday, February 14, at 5 p.m. ET, followed by the season's second game on Saturday at 2 p.m. The series finale is set for Sunday at 12 p.m.
 
Tickets are available for all three games at Seminoles.com/Tickets or by calling the FSU ticket office at 850-644-1830. General admission season tickets and single-game tickets for the first 11 home games also are now on sale for all fans. Admission is free for all FSU students with their I.D., with the student entrance at the right field gate at Haggard Plaza.
 
Friday's Opening Day will feature a schedule magnet giveaway for all fans while supplies last, and it is a Spear It Rewards game. Each regular-season Saturday home game is Military Saturday, sponsored by VyStar, where FSU will honor veterans and student veterans. At every Sunday regular-season home game in 2025, Kids Club members and youth wearing their little league jerseys will be admitted free, and kids 12 and under will be allowed to run the bases postgame, sponsored by Campus USA. Sunday also is the first Kid's Club Game of the season, with a kid's club prize wheel for members to spin, and member packs available for pick up.
 
All three games this weekend will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra (Friday | Saturday | Sunday), accessible through your television provider or a subscription to ESPN+. Fans can listen to every game via the Seminole Sports Network, with Friday and Sunday's games on WFLA 100.7 FM and Saturday's contest on WTLY 96.5 The Spear. Each game also is available around the world on the FSU Gameday App and Seminoles.com (Friday | Saturday | Sunday). Florida State will start a trio of left-handers on the mound this weekend. Junior Jamie Arnold, a 2025 Preseason National Pitcher of the Year honoree and 2024 First Team All-American, will make his first career Opening Day start on Friday, and he'll go against JMU sophomore righty Jackson Logar. Saturday will see redshirt junior Joey Volini make his FSU debut against junior lefty Jaden Kinsler. In the series finale, sophomore Wes Mendes also makes his first Seminole appearance and will face senior right-hander Todd Mozoki.
 
ARNOLD AND LODISE NAMED TEAM CAPTAINS
Arnold and fellow junior Alex Lodise have been selected as the team's captains in 2025. Arnold, a left-handed pitcher from Tampa, Florida, is in his third season with the Seminoles, while Lodise, an infielder from St. Augustine, Florida, is in his second season wearing the Garnet and Gold. The duo return in 2025 after being key contributors to a 2024 FSU team that advanced to the national semifinal at the College World Series.
 
A Preseason National Pitcher of the Year honoree this season, Arnold went 11-3 with a 2.98 ERA in 19 appearances with 18 starts in 2024. He allowed 35 earned runs on 90 hits with 159 strikeouts and a .224 opponents batting average. Arnold was recognized as a First Team All-American and National Pitcher of the Year finalist.
 
Lodise started all 62 games he appeared in a year ago, all at shortstop, and hit .281 with 61 hits and 44 RBI. He hit nine home runs with 14 doubles and walked 19 times. Lodise led the team with 134 assists. He was recognized with All-ACC Academic Team and ACC Academic Honor Roll accolades.
 
NATIONALY-RANKED SEMINOLES
The Seminoles are ranked No. 9 in the preseason top-25 by D1Baseball and No. 6 by Baseball America, the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA), the USA Today Coaches Poll, Perfect Game and Baseball Central. The Athletic has FSU at No. 7.
 
In the ACC standings, the league's head coaches picked FSU second in the ACC Preseason Coaches Poll, as did Baseball America. D1Baseball pegged FSU at No. 3.
 
SERIES HISTORY VS. JAMES MADISON
Florida State is 6-0 all-time against James Madison, with a pair of three-game series at Dick Howser Stadium to begin both the 2022 and 2023 campaigns.
 
A 4-1 win opened the all-time series on February 18, 2022, followed by a 13-2 victory on February 19 that saw current redshirt senior Joe Charles make his Seminole debut with a shutout eighth inning with two strikeouts. The sweep was secured on February 20 with a 10-4 triumph, as current redshirt senior David Barrett made his first FSU appearance and struck out two with one hit allowed in a scoreless sixth inning.
 
The next year, the Link Jarrett era commenced with another sweep of the Dukes. Florida State began the year with a 12-7 victory on February 17, where Barrett faced six batters in 1.1 innings with two strikeouts. The next day was a 5-1 FSU win, and a 17-10 victory on February 19 completed the sweep. Current junior Jamie Arnold made his first career start and allowed three earned runs on three hits with two strikeouts in 2.2 innings.
 
SCOUTING THE DUKES
James Madison posted a 36-25 record in 2024 and was fourth in the Sun Belt with a 17-13 record. JMU earned an NCAA Regional berth, its first since 2011, and went 2-2 with a 5-3 loss to host-No. 10 NC State in the regional final.
 
Receiving votes in the NCBWA preseason poll, the Dukes were picked to finish sixth in the Sun Belt Preseason Coaches Poll. Senior outfielder Ryan Dooley and junior pitcher Max Kuhle were tabbed to the Preseason All-Sun Belt Team.

The Seminoles take to the road for the first time next week, with a midweek matchup at USF on Tuesday, February 18. First pitch at USF Baseball Stadium in Tampa is at 5 p.m. ET. PRESEASON HONORS
Arnold has garnered a lengthy list of preseason accolades. He was named to the preseason watch list for the Golden Spikes Award by USA Baseball, which annually honors the top amateur baseball player in the country, and named the Preseason Pitcher of the Year by Baseball America Perfect Game
 
The junior left-hander was recognized as a Preseason First Team All-America selection by Baseball America, D1Baseball, NCBWA, Perfect Game and The Athletic. The Baseball America distinction was unanimous.
 
Junior right-hander Cam Leiter was named a Preseason Third Team All-American by Baseball America.
 
Additionally, Baseball America, D1Baseball and Perfect Game all bestowed Arnold with Preseason ACC Pitcher of the Year honors and BA and PG tabbed freshman catcher Hunter Carns with Preseason ACC Freshman of the Year accolades. Perfect Game also named Arnold to its Preseason All-ACC Team.
 
A LOOK BACK AT A MEMORABLE 2024
Florida State is coming off a return to the College World Series for the first time in five seasons in 2024. As the team went 49-17 and advanced to the national semifinals, three players earned All-America honors and eight were picked in the Major League Baseball draft. Arnold, James Tibbs III and Cam Smith were named All-Americans, with Tibbs a unanimous first team selection. In the MLB Draft, Tibbs, at No. 13 overall, and Smith, at No. 14, are the first Florida State teammates taken in the top 15 of a single draft in program history, and they're the third duo, and first since 1995, to be selected in the first round. Tibbs also was named the ACC Player of the Year.
