No. 6 Noles Stay Unbeaten, Clinch Series vs. Lipscomb

3/8/2025 3:10:00 PM | Baseball

TALLAHASSEE – No. 6 Florida State improved to 15-0 with an 11-5 win over Lipscomb (4-10) Saturday afternoon in front of 4,157 fans at Dick Howser Stadium. Starting pitcher Wes Mendes went 5.1 innings, striking out a career-high 11 batters. Through four starts, Mendes has a 0.89 ERA and 35 strikeouts in 20.1 innings pitched.

Florida State scored early and often in support of Mendes, taking a 10-0 lead into the sixth inning. Drew Faurot had three hits, scored two runs, drew a walk and knocked in four RBI to lead FSU with 19 RBI on the year. In the nine-hole, Hunter Carns added a pair of hits and three RBI, including his second home run of the season.

Hitting in the five-spot for the first time in his career, freshman Myles Bailey set a career high with four hits to extend his hitting streak to seven games. In that span, the first baseman is hitting 15-for-27 with eight RBI and nine runs scored.

A day after earning three extra-base hits – including Florida State's first grand slam of the season – third baseman Cal Fisher hit a double and a solo home run, his second of the season.

Gage Harrelson and Alex Lodise both doubled in the contest, extending their hitting streaks to 15 and 14 games, respectively.

The Bisons scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning to avoid the run-rule decision.

Redshirt freshman James Hankerson Jr. earned his first career hit, a double in the eighth inning.

The series will wrap Sunday at 12:00 p.m.
