NORMAN, Okla. – When Florida State's Amy Bond puts together her schedule each year, she begins in the third week of September with the Schooner Fall Classic at the Belmar Golf Club. The Seminoles have played in the event each of the last 12 years.

One of the reasons Bond continues to schedule Florida State's participation in the event is the Seminoles' annual success. The Seminoles have won the team championship (and the coveted guitar as the championship trophy) twice (in 2017 and 2023) and have earned seven top five team finishes including a third-place finish in 2025.

But for Bond, the main reason she continues to play in the event is for the children. The children who depend on the OK Kids Koral.

The inaugural Schooner Fall Classic was held in 2013. It was started by the late country music star Toby Keith and is wife Tricia Covel. An avid fan of college golf, Keith would present the team champion with a signed guitar each year until his death in 2024. The event continues in his honor with all tournament proceeds benefitting the Toby Keith Foundation which supports children battling cancer.

Among the activities surrounding the championship is a visit to the OK Kids Korral on Saturday following the completion of the second round of play.

"Playing in this event annually is important to our program," said Bond. "The friendships we have made over the years is the aspect of the event that we enjoy the most. The young people we have developed relationships with are the reasons we come back each year. It's a part of our program that gets passed down from class to class. The older players talk about it to the younger players and that fuels their desire to want to play in the Schooner each year."

The OK Kids Korral is a nonprofit group that aids children with cancer and their families. The OK Kids Korral is a "home away from home" facility where children with cancer and their families can spend time either overnight or during the day, cost-free, while receiving treatment at nearby children's hospitals. Amenities include overnight suites, daytime rooms, dining areas, game rooms, living rooms, a kitchen, a laundry room, and family resource rooms. It is designed as a relaxing, safe haven.

No. 16 Florida State is joined by No. 22 Oklahoma State and No. 25 TCU along with Arkansas State, Georgia, Houston (RV), Iowa State (RV), Kansas State, Oklahoma, Oral Roberts, Texas State, Tulane, Tulsa, UCF (RV), Virginia Tech, and Wisconsin in the 16-team tournament.

Florida State's lineup consists of sophomores Sophia Fullbrook, Alexandra Gazzoli, Elin Pudas Remler and Freya Russell as well a freshman Haruhi Nakatani.

Fullbrook, who led the Seminoles with a tied for ninth place finish in the season-opening Folds of Honor Collegiate, will play in the event for the second time in her career. She finished in a tie for 48th place in the individual standings as the Seminoles finished in third place in the team standings at the Schooner in 2025.

"It's a very special event because of the cause behind the event," said Fullbrook. "Everyone wants to play well because we are playing towards a bigger cause – a cause which puts life into perspective."

Gazzoli, who will make her first appearance in the event, is looking forward to experiencing a new tournament on a new course.

"In addition to the importance of the event, It looks like a really fun tournament," said Gazzoli. "I'm excited to be able to experience this tournament. My goals include learning as much as I can to set our team up for success."

The 54-hole stroke play event runs from Saturday (Sept. 20) through Monday (September 22).
