Swimming and Diving Wins 14 Events on Second Day of Seminole Fall Classic, Women Defeat Iowa State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State swimming and diving teams finished the season-opening Seminole Fall Classic with 14 wins in 22 events on Friday at Morcom Aquatics Center.
The women defeated Iowa State 391-284, while the No. 23 men came up just short against Purdue, 347.50-352.50.
"We had some really great swims across the board, really excited about what we saw. Things to fix, first meet of the year… but really excited about where we're at as a team," head coach Neal Studd said of the Noles' first meet of the 2026-27 season.
Lucy Porter set a new personal-best time in the 200 IM (1:58.22), improving her position as the sixth-highest time in the event in FSU history. Porter also won the 500 free (4:53.21) on Saturday, totaling four first place finishes over the two-day meet.
"It feels really exciting, and I'm just really grateful to have been able to go those times at this time in the season," said Porter, who also set an FSU record in the 100 IM on Friday.
Logan Robinson won the 50 fly (20.91) and 200 fly (1:38.78) on Saturday, totaling five individual wins over the meet, including setting the men's 100 IM record on Friday.
On his performance over the weekend and, Robinson said, "I feel like whenever you set the bar, people will raise themselves to that bar."
Among their nine wins on Saturday, the women posted five 1-2 finishes. Pauline Zeller (24.05) and Maryn McDade (24.06) took the top two spots in the 50 fly, while Samantha Villacis (2:02.22) and Alice Velden (2:03.51) finished first and second in the 200 back. Emma Alsen (49.62) and Mary Leigh Hardman (49.79) got the top spots in the 100 free.
The men won five events on Saturday, including a narrow finish in the 200 free relay (1:19.04). Mathias Christensen won the 200 IM (1:44.38) and Andrew Rich won the 50 back (21.97).
On the diving boards, Evelyn Hall won three-meter (270.75), completing her sweep of the women's diving events. Hayden Schroeder placed second on one-meter for the men (334.80).
The Noles will be back in action from Oct. 16-17 at the Dual Meet Tournament hosted by Georgia Tech in Atlanta, before returning to Morcom on Oct. 23 for the All Florida Invite.
