Swimming and Diving Begins Seminole Fall Classic With 16 Wins

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State swimming and diving team began the 2026-27 season with 16 wins in 22 events on the first day of the Seminole Fall Classic at Morcom Aquatics Center.
On a rainy morning, the No. 23-ranked men won seven events against Purdue and the women won nine against Iowa State.
Lucy Porter set an FSU record in the 100 IM (55.87), breaking the previous record set in 2018, and also notched a first-place finish in the 400 IM (4:16.82). Amelia Marek placed second in the 100 IM (56.27), also besting the previous school record.
Logan Robinson led the men with wins in the 200 free (1:34.88), 100 fly (46.09), and 100 IM (47.74). Mathias Christensen posted winning times in the 400 IM (3:43.93) and 200 breast (1:57.50), while Andrew Rich won the 100 back (47.69).
The women posted 1-2 finishes in six events. Mary Leigh Hardman (1:47.68) and Ioana Stirbu (1:47.76) took the top spots in the 200 free and Pauline Zeller (53.72) and Cara Knoblauch (55.79) posted the best two times in 100 fly. Maryn McDade (22.78) and Emma Alsen (23.22) got first and second in the 50 free, while Alice Velden (54.18) and Zeller (55.96) placed in the top two in the 100 back.
The Noles also won three of four relays, with the women's team winning both the 200 medley (1:37.90) and 100 free (41.89) and the men's team touching first in the 100 free (35.09).
On the diving boards, Evelyn Hall won one-meter (270.60) and Brooklyn Markusson placed third (245.40). Carlos Vargas led the men with a third place finish on three-meter (296.40).
The second and final session of the Seminole Fall Classic will begin Saturday at 10 a.m. at Morcom Aquatics Center. Admission will be free.
