Junior forward Shaneil Buckley gave the Seminoles a 1-0 lead on a coast-to-coast goal in the 10th minute and senior defender Tanner Strickland knocked in the eventual game-winner just over three minutes later. The Blue Devils' lone goal came in the 32nd minute.
Buckley's goal is her second of the season, her inaugural NCAA Division I campaign. Strickland's score is her third of the year, a career high, and the sixth of her four-year collegiate tenure. It's Strickland's second game-winning goal in her first season at FSU, also a career best, and third career.

Duke outshot Florida State 11-8 and both teams registered five shots on goal. Duke edged FSU in corner kicks, 4-2, but the visitors were held without a corner in the second half. Eleven fouls were called against the Seminoles and five against the Blue Devils.
Buckley and junior forward Wrianna Hudson had two shots and Buckley and Strickland were two of five FSU players with one shot on goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Kate Ockene recorded four saves as her Blue Devil-counterpart had three, all in the second half.

The Blue Devil offense forced a save over the crossbar from Ockene in the ninth minute. Duke's ensuing corner kick set up Buckley's goal, as Ahmad got to the loose ball inside the penalty area and quickly passed the ball up to Buckley, who used her speed to break away and get around several Duke defenders. After going the length of the field from one penalty area to the other, Buckley beat the Blue Devil keeper in a one-on-one opportunity just inside the box. Her low shot into the center of the goal gave FSU a 1-0 lead at 9:24.
Three minutes later, an Erbach corner kick found Strickland unmarked near the penalty spot. Strickland's shot at 12:47 ricocheted off a Blue Devil defender as the Seminoles doubled the score.
Ockene recorded two more saves within two minutes, grabbing one on the bottom left of the goal in the 20th minute and stopping a shot in the center in the 21st minute.
The Blue Devils scored their lone goal at 31:00.
