TALLAHASSEE -Â Florida State is set to kick off its historic inaugural lacrosse season on Saturday against the Stetson Hatters at 1 p.m. at the Seminole Lacrosse Complex. This will be the first of a 16-game regular season, which features eight home games and 10 conference games.
The Seminoles are led by head coach Sara Tisdale, who enters her 13th season coaching at the collegiate level in women's lacrosse. In her 12-year career, Tisdale has surpassed over 100 career victories and has won four regular-season conference championships and three conference tournament titles. The coaching staff also features associate head coach MacKenzie Plaskey, assistant coach Rachel Clark, and assistant coach McKenzie Gaghan.Â
"I am honored to take the field this weekend with 38 incredible student-athletes and our coaching staff to represent something much bigger than ourselves," Tisdale said. "This has been a moment so many people have worked tirelessly towards, and I'm grateful for our administration, the board of trustees, and our staff for their support and efforts in bringing Florida State lacrosse to the field. I can not wait to build a connected and energetic fan base as we do our part to deliver another incredible team for our Seminole fans to cheer for and support. Our quest to put Florida State Lacrosse at the top of the ACC and establish ourselves as one of the most premier programs in the country starts Saturday."
FSU will field a 38-player roster that includes 24 transfers and 14 true freshmen. All 24 transfers come from Division 1 programs, bringing 411 collegiate appearances, more than 140 goals, and eight conference honors between them.Â
Florida State will play its inaugural season as the 13th women's lacrosse program in the ACC and FSUÂ is one of two teams in the country with a women's lacrosse-only complex.
Tickets are $7 for adults and $4 for youth, and FSU students have free admission. Tickets can be purchased at seminoles.com/tickets. The game will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra. Live stats and video will be available on seminoles.com.
