3/20/2026 8:23:00 PM | Softball
TALLAHASSEE - Isa Torres cemented herself in the NCAA record books on Friday night as the No. 10 Florida State softball team (26-4, 4-0) throttled Cal (10-20, 1-6), 12-2, in five innings on at JoAnne Graf Field.Â
Torres finished her night 3-for-3 with a couple of RBI to become the first player in NCAA history to record 14 hits in 14 consecutive at-bats. Torres hit an infield single in the first, a double in the second and tripled off the wall to secure her spot in NCAA history. In her last nine games, Torres has 27 hits in her last 30 at-bats to hit .900 and has reached base in her last 21 plate appearances which is the third-longest streak in NCAA history behind Amber Schhisler from Campbell (26) and Adrienne Monica from Northwestern (25). Torres also broke Maddie O'Brien's 12-year FSU record of 18 consecutive plate appearances.Â
After a scoreless first inning, Marin Heller hit a two-out double, and Hayley Griggs tripled to put the Noles on the board 1-0. Torres then stepped in and picked up her second hit of the day with a double to center to bring home Griggs to put the Noles up 2-0 after two.Â
Jazzy Francik retired the side in order in the third, and the Noles' offense got back to work as Kennedy Harp singled, and Ashtyn Danley reached on an error to set the stage for Shelby McKenzie. McKenzie hit her third home run in as many games to put the Noles up 5-0.Â
Cal got a couple of runs back on a two-run home run, but the Noles wasted not time getting to work in the bottom of the fourth. Griggs walked, and Torres hit her record-setting triple to put the Noles up 6-2. Jaysoni Beachum brought in Torres on a groundout. Bella Ruggiero singled to third base, and Harp walked to put two runners on for Ashtyn Danley. Danley hit one deep to center field for the Noles second homer of the game to make it 10-2. Anna Hinde kept the bats hot with a single down the right field line, and McKenzie hit her second home run of the game to put the Noles up 12-2.Â
Francik forced three straight lineouts to Beachum at third in the top of the fifth to end the game and give the Noles their 15th consecutive win.Â
Francik pitched all five innings and allowed two runs on two hits while striking out four. Francik picked up her 11th win which surpasses her win total of 10 from last season.Â
The Noles will be back in action tomorrow at 1 p.m. on ACCNX.Â
