Fullbrook Leads Coach Mo Classic by Two Strokes

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -Â The No. 16 Florida State women's golf team is tied for second place after two rounds of play at the Coach Mo Classic, which is being held at the St. Johns Golf Club. Heading into the final round, the Seminoles are two strokes back from the lead, sitting at 6-over, 582 after matching rounds of 3-over, 291 on Monday.

"We had a solid day today," FSU head coach Amy Bond said. "We gave ourselves a shot tomorrow, being two strokes back from the lead. Â Our team is getting a lot of work in, and we'll have the opportunity tomorrow to make improvements and be in contention."

Sophia Fullbrook finished the first 36 holes as the tournament leader by two strokes after turning in a second-round score of 5-under, 67. Â After seven pars in round two, Fullbrook made an eagle on the par five, 473-yard eighth hole. Fullbrook kept the momentum, seeing four birdies on the back nine, jumping to the top of the leaderboard.

After an opening round of even, 72, Fullbrook is 5-under, 139 heading into the final round.

Haruhi Nakatani sits in 14th place at 3-over, 147 after and opening round of 75. In windy conditions, Nakatani improved in the second round, shooting even par, 72 while carding four birdies.

The Seminoles were led by Alexandra Gazzoli in the first round, carding five birdies, finishing the round 4-under, 68 to claim the early lead. Â Freya Russell posted round of 76 and 72 and is tied with Gazzoli for 28th at 6-over, 150.

The final 18 holes of play will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday with a shotgun start.
