Isa Torres Has Record Night in 20-8 Win Over Coastal Carolina
3/6/2026 10:08:00 PM | Softball
Torres went a perfect 6-for-6 with four RBI and became the first Seminole to ever record six hits and was the first Divsion 1 player since 2017 to record six hits in a seven-inning game.Â
Torres got the game going with a bunt single and advanced to second on an error and moved herself to third on a wild pitch. Jaysoni Beachum drove her home on a RBI single to put the Noles up 1-0.Â
Coastal Carolina responded with four runs on three home runs in the first inning to take the lead.Â
The Noles' offense responded in a big way. The Noles had a fierce two-out rally as Bella Ruggiero picked up her first of four hits of the day. Shelby McKenzie and Hayley Griggs recorded back-to-back walks to load the bases for Torres who delivered with a single through the right side to score Ruggiero. Beachum delivered with a single to clear the bases and put the Noles up 5-4.
The Chanticleers responded with two more runs in the third to take a 6-5 lead, but that would be the last lead the Chanticleers would take. After a scoreless third inning, Torres hit a leadoff singled, and Kennedy Harp hit her second home run of the season to put the Noles up 7-6.Â
Ruggiero started off the fifth inning with a single, and Ruggiero scored on a single up the middle from Torres to put the Noles up 8-6.
Coastal Carolina tied the game back up in the bottom of the fifth inning, but the Noles exploded for 12 runs on 10 hits in the final two innings to pull away and seal the victory.Â
Ashtyn Danley was credited with the win as she went 5.2 innings and allowed two runs while striking out three.Â
Â
The Noles will be back in action for game two of the series at 1 p.m. on ESPN+.
