No. 9 Softball Drops Game Two of the Series to No. 23 Stanford

STANFORD, Calif. - The No. 9 Florida State softball team (36-6, 12-2) dropped game two of the series to No. 23 Stanford (25-12, 11-6), by a score of 7-2 on Saturday night. 
 
Isa Torres took no time to get going as she took the second pitch she saw deep over the left field wall to immediately put the Noles up 1-0.
 
Both pitchers settled in as neither team pushed across a run in the next three innings until Bella Ruggiero picked up her second RBI in as many games with a single to score Kennedy Harp to put the Noles up 2-0. 
 
The Cardinal responded with a fierce two-out rally in the bottom of the fourth where they scored seven runs which proved to be enough to take the win. 
 
Game three will take place at 5 p.m. eastern on ACCNX.

  • Isa Torres hit a leadoff home run for the fourth time this season to put the Noles up 1-0. Torres still leads the NCAA with a .600 batting average. 
  • Torres hit her ninth home run of the season which tied her career high for home runs in a season.
  • Jaysoni Beachum drew a walk in the seventh inning and has now reached base safely in 30 consecutive games.
