No. 12 Softball Hosts Top 10 Florida Before Facing Georgia Tech

TALLAHASSEE - The No. 12 Florida State softball team (39-7, 15-3) has another huge week as it hosts No. 7 Florida on Wednesday night before traveling to Georgia Tech for the second-to-last ACC series of the year. First pitch on Wednesday will be at 6 p.m. on ESPN2 with Courtney Lyle (Play by Play) and Danielle Lawrie (Color) on the call. Friday's game in Atlanta will begin at 6 p.m. with Saturday's game starting at 5 p.m. The series finale with be at 1 p.m. Friday's and Sunday's games can be seen on ACCNX with Saturday's game airing on the ACC Network. 

Seminoles Host Rival Gators Before Heading to Atlanta to Face Yellow Jackets
  • The Seminoles are in for another huge week as they host No. 7 Florida in a rivalry game on Wednesday night before heading to Atlanta to face Georgia Tech. 
  • The Noles have a great chance to boost their resume as Florida currently sits No. 4 in the RPI and Georgia Tech is No. 41 in the RPI. 
  • The Gators are 43-6 and are 16-5 in the SEC. Florida is coming off a weekend series against Auburn where it took two out of three. 
  • Georgia Tech opened some eyes around the country last weekend as the Yellow Jackets upset No. 10 Virginia Tech on the road by taking the final two games of the series. Georgia Tech is 29-23 and 10-11 in ACC play. 
                                            
Series History
  • FSU trails the all-time series against Florida 29-24 but has dominated the Gators as of late. The Noles have won seven out of the last eight meetings against Florida. The one loss to the Gators came in extra innings in 2024. 
  • The Noles have also dominated Georgia Tech as the Noles hold a 72-26 advantage over the Yellow Jackets and have won the last 26 matchups against Georgia Tech dating back to 2013. 
                                        
Last Time Out
  • After a tough weekend at Stanford where the Noles were swept, FSU bounced back in a big way with a sweep over North Carolina. 
  • The Noles' pitching staff shut down the Tar Heels' top 10 offense. UNC came into the weekend averaging 8.5 runs per game and scored just seven runs across the three games. 
  • The Noles got great production from Ashtyn Danley who hit two home runs and drove in eight RBI in the three games. Danley also threw 3.2 scoreless innings and recorded a save. 
  • Isa Torres and Bella Ruggiero also had big weekends for the Noles. Ruggiero went 6-for-8 (.750) with three RBI and Torres went 6-for-9 (.667) with a home run. 
                                            
Noles Have Found Success Against Gators' Pitching
  • A big part of the Seminoles success against the Gators has been getting to Florida's pitching attack. 
  • In the last three matchups, FSU is averaging 9.67 runs per game against the Gators. 
  • FSU has been very successful against Florida's All-American candidate in Keegan Rothrock. Rothrock holds a 2.68 career ERA. In the 13.2 innings that FSU has seen Rothrock, the Noles have exploded for 13 runs on 15 hits, 11 of which were earned runs. 
                                            
Torres Putting Together One of the Greatest Seasons in College Softball History
  • It's been 25 games since Isa Torres has returned from injury, and all she has done is put together one of the most impressive offensive runs in college softball history. 
  • In her last 25 games, Torres is 54-for-85 (.635) with nine home runs and 32 RBI. 
  • Torres went on a record-breaking run where she set the NCAA record for consecutive hits as Torres went 16-for-16 over the course of seven games from March 8-21. 
  • Torres also reached base in 23 consecutive plate appearances which is the third-longest streak in NCAA history and is a new FSU record. 
  • Even after missing eight games, Torres is still fifth in the country with 76 hits. 
  • Torres leads the country with a .589 batting average and is second in the country with a .649 on base percentage.
  • Torres also ranks seventh in the country in slugging percentage.  
  • In the March 6 win at Coastal Carolina, Torres set a school record with six hits in six at-bats for the Seminoles. 
  • Torres is just the third Seminole to record over five hits in a game and is the first Division I player since 2017 to record six hits in a seven-inning game. 
  • Torres leads the NCAA with a .648 batting average.
  • Over the course of her career, Torres is hitting .442 which ranks second among active DI players that have recorded over 500 at bats. 
  • Torres has also been rock solid at shortstop this season as the junior has not committed an error in 112 chances. 
  • Against Dartmouth, Torres hit an inside-the-park home run to end the game in six innings. Torres was the first Seminole to hit an inside-the-park home run since Carsyn Gordon on May 19, 2018. 
  • Torres had a record season in 2025 as she broke the FSU record with a .436 batting average. 
  • Maybe the most impressive stat in Torres' 2025 season was that she struck out just five times in 218 at bats. 
  • Torres tallied 95 hits in 2025 which was the third most in FSU history.
  • Torres was a Top 10 Finalist for the USA Softball Player of the Year award and was a unanimous Preseason All-American. 
                                            
FSU's Offense Proving to be One of Nation's Best Again
  • FSU has only been known for its success in the circle, but the offense has been one of the nation's best the past couple of seasons and has caught fire once again this season.
  • FSU is third in the country in doubles, fifth in batting average, sixth in total sac flies, seventh in triples and 10th in on-base percentage.
  • FSU is averaging 7.87 runs per game which ranks 12th in the country. 
  • In 2025, FSU finished in the top 10 in the country in batting average, hits, RBI, runs per game and triples. 
  • FSU scored the fourth-most runs in school history last season and had the fourth-most hits in school history. The Noles also hit the third-most home runs in school history last season. 
                                        
Seeing Double(s) and Triple(S)
  • One thing about the Noles is that if they can get extra bases, they will. 
  • FSU has been one of the nation's best teams at hitting doubles the past five seasons and this year is no different. 
  • FSU has ranked in the top 25 in doubles every year for the past five seasons and has ranked in the top 10 in doubles in three of those seasons. FSU led the nation in doubles in 2023. 
  • This year, FSU is third in the country with 93 doubles and chasing the school record of 122 doubles which was set in 2023. 
  • Marin Heller, Isa Torres and Ashtyn Danley have combined to 43 doubles and all rank in the top 10 of the ACC in total doubles. 
  • FSU has also been great at getting three bags this season. 
  • FSU ranks seventh in the country and second in the ACC with 20 triples. 
  • Isa Torres leads the ACC and is seventh in the country with six triples. 
  • Last season, FSU finished seventh in the country with 21 triples. 
                                        
Noles Have Improved Immensely Defensively in 2026
  • One of FSU's most improved areas this season has been in the field. 
  • So far this season, FSU holds a .984 fielding percentage which ranks fourth in the country and first in the ACC.
  • FSU has committed just 18 errors in 1,217 chances. 
  • FSU is also one of the best teams in the country in turning double plays. FSU has turned 25 double plays this season which leads the ACC and is 10th in the country. 
  • Last season, FSU had a .963 fielding percentage that ranked 131st in the country and 10th in the ACC. 
                                        
FSU Freshmen Continue to Shine
  • Lonni Alameda expected big things out of the freshmen class this season, and they have delivered so far. 
  • Through 46 games, Marin Heller, Makenna Sturgis, Anna Hinde and Hayley Griggs have combined to hit .331 with 14 home runs and 103 RBI. 
  • Coach Alameda started four freshmen on opening day for the first time in her time at Florida State. FSU and NC State are the only P4 programs to start four true freshmen on opening day. 
                                                         
Beachum Continues to Be One of Nation's Most Dangerous Bats
  • Jaysoni Beachum has become one of the nation's most dangerous bats in all of the country and looks to be back to her normal self in 2026.
  • So far in 2026, Beachum is hitting .389 with seven home runs and a team-leading 53 RBI. 
  • Beachum has reached base safely in her last 34 games which is the fifth-longest streak in FSU history. 
  • Beachum has also been walked 39 times this season giving her a .529 on base percentage. Beachum has drawn 0.85 walks per game which leads the ACC and is 19th in the entire country. 
  • In three seasons, Beachum holds a .368 batting average with 34 home runs and 164 RBI. 
  • Beachum's 34 home runs ranks ninth all-time in FSU history and her 164 RBI ranks eighth in FSU history. 
  • After winning the NFCA Freshman of the Year award in 2024, Beachum's numbers took a dip, but she was still very effective as she hit 11 home runs and 45 RBI. 
  • In her freshman season, Beachum hit .417 which is the fourth-best mark in FSU history. 
  • Also in her freshman campaign, Beachum broke the freshman record with 66 RBI and had the second-most home runs as a freshman in FSU history with 16. 
                                                            
Ashtyn "Do It All" Danley
  • Ashtyn Danley has been doing a little bit of everything as of late and has made her case as one of the best two-way players in the country.
  • Danley has taken a huge jump offensively this season and is hitting .356 with seven home runs and 41 RBI. Her home run and RBI totals are both career highs. 
  • Danley has been on fire at the plate as of late as she is hitting .472 with three home runs and 16 RBI in her last 10 games. 
  • Against UNC, Danley hit two home runs and drove in eight runs including a career high five RBI in Sunday's game against the Tar Heels. 
  • Danley has also been great in the circle this season, Danley is 8-1 with 27 appearances in the circle and holds a 2.56 ERA. Danley has also recorded three saves. 
  • In three seasons with the Garnet and Gold, Danley holds a 40-9 record and a 2.53 ERA in 315.2 innings. 
  • Danley has taken another jump in the circle in ACC play as she holds a 1.73 ERA in ACC play and a 3-0 record with three saves. 
  • Danley made a huge jump between her freshman and sophomore seasons in the circle as she posted a 1.60 ERA last season after a 3.20 ERA in her freshman season. 
  • Danley's 1.60 ERA last season ranked 11th in the country and was second behind Francik in the ACC.
  • In her last seven appearances of 2025, Danley allowed just one earned run over the course of 20.1 innings. 
                                                                
Francik Leading FSU in the Circle
  • Jazzy Francik has picked up right where she left off in her freshman campaign in 2025. 
  • So far this season, Francik has a 17-2 record and 2.03 ERA.
  • Francik's 17 wins leads the ACC and is 17th in the entire country. 
  • Francik won back-to-back ACC Pitcher of the Week awards to start the season. Francik is the first FSU pitcher to win back-to-back ACC Pitcher of the Week awards since Meghan King in 2019. 
  • On opening week, Francik picked up three wins, did not allow a run in 17 innings and threw a no-hitter on opening night against Samford. 
  • Francik's no-hitter against Samford was the second no-hitter on opening day in FSU history. Francik joined Julie Larsen who threw a no-hitter against West Florida on opening day in 1986. 
  • Francik's 17 consecutive scoreless innings was the longest streak to start a season since Meghan King in 2019. King threw 18 scoreless innings to start the season. 
  • Francik finished 2025 with a 1.51 ERA which was the lowest ERA in the ACC and the lowest ERA of any freshman in the country. 
  • Francik finished with a 10-3 record and pitched 92.2 innings. 
  • Francik recorded eight saves which was a freshman record at FSU and the second-most in school history.
  • Francik struck out 87 batters and surrendered just 19 walks and held opponents to just a .191 batting average. 
  • Francik allowed just 14 extra base hits in 2025. 
  • On May 3, 2025, Francik threw the first ever no-hitter against a ranked opponent against Virginia Tech. It was also the first no-hitter by a FSU true freshman since Lacey Waldrop in 2012.                                 
                                                                
Bella Ruggiero Coming on Strong as of Late 
  • Redshirt freshman Bella Ruggiero has continued to get better as the season has gone on and continues to move up in the lineup.
  • Ruggiero is hitting .374 with 20 RBI this season. 
  • Ruggiero has recorded a RBI in her last six games and a hit in her last seven games. 
                                                                
Heller Continues to Be Steady at Second for the Noles
  • Marin Heller came in as a true freshman and earned the starting spot at second base and has been a consistent bright spot for the Noles.
  • Heller is hitting .364 which leads all FSU true freshmen. 
  • Heller has two home runs and has driven in 25. 
  • Heller has been phenomenal at second base as the freshman has just three errors in 160 chances. 
                                                                
Kennedy Harp Having Another Solid Season Following Injury 
  • Kennedy Harp came onto the scene in a big way in 2025, but her season was cut short due to a season-ending knee injury on April 27 but returned to full action on Feb. 25 and did not disappoint. 
  • Harp started all five games against FAMU, FGCU and Rutgers and hit .583 with one home run and a team-leading seven RBI. Harp recorded a hit in all five games she played. 
  • Harp is hitting .315 with five home runs and 28 RBI. 
  • In 49 games in 2025, Harp hit .412 with nine home runs and 49 RBI with a .765 slugging percentage. 
  • Harp added 10 triples which was the third-most in FSU history and the most in the country. 
  • Harp broke the school record for most consecutive games with an RBI as Harp recorded a RBI in her first 10 games to start the 2025 season. 
                                                            
Anna Hinde Off to Hot Start in Garnet and Gold Career
  • Anna Hinde has had no troubles adapting to the college game so far in her young career. 
  • Hinde is hitting .345 and has reached base in 38 out of the 46 games this season and has recorded a hit in 32 out of the 46 games.
  • Hinde has hit six home runs and 30 RBI. 
  • Hinde went on an 8-game hitting streak from Feb. 12-21 which included games against No. 1 Texas Tech, No. 7 UCLA, No. 3 Tennessee and No. 9 Alabama. 
                                                            
Coacha Reaches 1,000 Career Wins
  • Coach Alameda reached another milestone on March 29 against Clemson as Alameda recorded her 1,000th career win. 
  • Alameda is the 12th active head coach to reach the 1,000 win milestone. 
  • FSU is one of just two programs (FSU and Tennessee) to have had two coaches who have reached 1,000 wins. JoAnne Graf recorded 1,186 wins in 25 seasons. 
                                                                
ACC Dominance
  • The Seminoles have been the queens of the ACC ever since Coach Alameda has been on campus since 2009. 
  • Coach Alameda has lost just 13 ACC series in her 18 years at Florida State. 
  • Since 2011. FSU has lost just six ACC series 
  • FSU has been swept just twice in ACC play under Coach Alameda (North Carolina 2011, Stanford 2026).

  • JoAnne Graf Field is one of the nation's toughest places to play and this year is no different. 
  • Since 2019, FSU is 195-29 at JoAnne Graf Field. 
  • FSU has won 41 out of its last 44 regular season games at JoAnne Graf Field.
