TALLAHASSEE - The Florida State softball team cleaned up the ACC yearly awards on Wednesday morning as the Noles won four out of the five major awards while also putting eight on the All-ACC Teams. Isa Torres was named the ACC Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year. Jazzy Francik was named the ACC Pitcher of the Year, and head coach Lonni Alameda was named the ACC Coach of the Year. This is just the second time in school history that FSU has won four or more of the ACC awards joining the 2017 team.Â
The Noles were also well represented on the All-ACC teams as they tied the school record (2023, 2024, 2026) with eight selections. Torres, Francik and Jaysoni Beachum all earned First Team All-ACC honors while Ashtyn Danley, Shelby McKenzie and Marin Heller all earned Second Team All-ACC honors. Anna Hinde and Hayley Griggs rounded out the selections with Third Team All-ACC honors. Griggs, Hinde and Heller were also named to the ACC All-Freshmen Team.Â
Torres joined Jessi Warren as the only other Seminole to win ACC Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year in the same season. Torres is the first Nole to win the ACC Player of the Year since Warren back to 2018, and it is the 10th time a Seminole has won the award. Torres is just the third Nole to win ACC Defensive Player of the Year award as she joins Warren and Sydney Sherrill (3x). Torres has put together a season like no other for the Garnet and Gold. In ACC play, Torres hit .475 with 10 home runs and 24 RBI in 24 games. Torres had 38 hits in 80 at-bats, scored 38 runs, hit seven doubles and three triples. She was walked 17 times and posted a .571 on-base percentage. She also slugged an outstanding 1.013 during conference play. Torres was just as good in the field as she was at the plate. Torres did not commit an error in 77 chances in ACC play and still has not committed an error in 153 chances this season. Torres is the only shortstop and one of two middle infielders to have no errors in 130+ chances.Â
Francik has continued the legacy of great Florida State pitching as she became the eighth pitcher to win ACC Pitcher of the Year. All eight winners have come under Coach Alameda. Francik shined in conference play as she finished 9-1 with a 1.87 ERA in 63.2 innings. Francik threw two no-hitters in ACC play against Georgia Tech and Boston College. Francik made 10 starts and threw three complete-game shutouts. ACC opponents were hitting just .170 against Francik.Â
Coach Alameda won the ACC Coach of the Year for the second-consecutive year and has won the award in three out of the last four seasons. Alameda has won the award an ACC record eight times. Alameda helped the Noles to its 19th ACC Regular Season Championship as the Noles posted a 21-3 record in ACC play.Â
Beachum quietly put together a great season for the Noles as she earned her second career First Team All-ACC honor. In ACC play, Beachum hit .443 with four home runs and 25 RBI and was walked 19 times for a .553 on-base percentage.Â
Danley earned All-ACC honors for the third-consecutive season as the two-way player had her best year yet in the circle and in the batter's box. Danley was 6-0 with a 1.40 ERA in 50 innings for the Noles in the circle and recorded three saves for the Seminoles. Offensively, Danley hit .351 in ACC play with six home runs and a team-leading 28 RBI.Â
McKenzie picked up her first All-ACC honors as the sophomore from Pace, Fla., hit .405 in ACC play with four home runs and 14 RBI and drew 13 walks.Â
Heller also was named to the All-ACC Second Team as the freshman hit .370 with two home runs and nine RBI in ACC play before injury. Heller was phenomenal at second base as the freshman did not commit an error in 67 chances in ACC play.Â
Griggs came on late in ACC play as the freshman hit .371 in ACC play with four home runs and 11 runs driven in. Hinde hit . 359 with three home runs and drove in 20 runs and was phenomenal behind the plate for the Noles as she only had four stolen base attempts on her, and she threw out two out of those four attempts.Â
The Noles will begin its chase for the ACC Championship tomorrow at 11 a.m. on the ACC Network against either Georgia Tech or Notre Dame.Â
