Jack O’Reilly is in his first season as a graduate assistant with the Florida State baseball program in 2025-26. O’Reilly comes to FSU after spending the 2025 season as an assistant coach at Villanova and the 2025 summer as an assistant coach with the Falmouth Commodores of the Cape Cod Baseball League.
A double graduate from Villanova, O’Reilly was a four-year starter and two-time team captain. He attended Notre Dame as a freshman, playing for current FSU head coach Link Jarrett.
“The moment I met Jack as a freshman at Notre Dame I knew he was a very driven student-athlete,” Jarrett said. “His consistent performance and growth as a player was enjoyable to watch through the years. Jack has created a foundation in coaching while serving as an assistant at Villanova as well as spending his summer coaching for Falmouth in the Cape Cod League. Jack will be a great addition to our program and will be a role model for our players.”
In 2025, O’Reilly was an assistant coach at Villanova, working with the hitters and outfielders and also serving as first base coach. Two Wildcats were named to the All-Big East Team and one signed a free agent contract with the St. Louis Cardinals organization. VU earned nine Big East Weekly honors, with one player of the week, three pitcher of the week and five weekly honor roll accolades.
With Falmouth in the Cape Cod League in 2025, O’Reilly served as the team’s hitting and outfield coach. O’Reilly coached the league’s MVP, Maika Niu, who led the Cape with eight home runs and was second with 23 RBI and 28 runs scored. A league-best nine Commodores were named to the Cape Cod League All-Star Game.
“I am beyond excited for the opportunity to work for a nationally-ranked program and one of the most well-respected coaches in the game, Link Jarrett,” O’Reilly said. “The winning history and pedigree of the program speaks for itself. I can’t wait to get started with the Seminoles and help the team achieve their goal of reaching and winning the College World Series.”
An infielder and outfielder at Villanova, O’Reilly played in 185 games with 184 starts in his four year career. He was named to the Big East All-Academic Team each season and was named to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll every semester.
As a player, O’Reilly notched 201 hits, 48 doubles, three triples and 20 home runs with 130 runs scored and 124 RBI. He made 935 putouts, recorded 160 assists and had a .978 fielding percentage.
Prior to coming to Villanova, O’Reilly played the 2020 season at Notre Dame, with Jarrett as his head coach. O’Reilly played in five games of the shortened season.
A native of Villanova, Pennsylvania, O’Reilly has three siblings. His father, Matt, played basketball at William & Mary. O’Reilly graduated from Villanova with a bachelors degree in finance and a masters in education. He will complete a certificate in athletic coaching at FSU.
