TALLAHASSEE – Four Florida State baseball players were selected on the second and final day of the 2026 MLB Draft on Sunday afternoon, as a total of seven FSU players were picked in the two-day, 20-round draft.

Junior left-handed pitcher Trey Beard was drafted by the Miami Marlins in the fifth round (147th overall), junior right-hander Bryson Moore was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the seventh round (198th overall), junior righty Cole Stokes was picked by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 12th round (353rd overall) and junior right-handed pitcher Brodie Purcell was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 12th round (362nd overall).

Sunday's four draft picks are joined by three Seminoles selected in the second and third rounds on Saturday. Junior left-handed starter Wes Mendes and sophomore first baseman Myles Bailey were drafted in the second round by the Houston Astros and Chicago Cubs, respectively, and junior center fielder Brayden Dowd was picked in the third round by the Arizona Diamondbacks.

For the first time in program history, the Seminoles have at least seven players drafted in three consecutive seasons. With Mendes, Bailey and Dowd, three or more players were selected in the first three rounds for just the third time in school history, along with 2025 (four) and 1992 (three). Florida State has had two or more players picked in the first three rounds nine times, with 1991-92 and 2025-26 the only two drafts that feat has been accomplished in consecutive seasons. Additionally, Mendes and Bailey give FSU seven picks in the first or second rounds since 2024, the most in a three-year stretch in team history. Eight players have been drafted in the first two rounds in head coach Link Jarrett's four seasons in Tallahassee, also a four-year program best.

TREY BEARD – MIAMI MARLINS – FIFTH ROUND, 147TH OVERALL
A Third Team All-ACC honoree and named to the Tallahassee Regional All-Regional Team, Beard was named to the Golden Spikes Award Midseason Watch List. A Dunedin, Florida, native, he earned National Player of the Week, National Pitcher of the Week, National Team of the Week and ACC Pitcher of the Week accolades on March 16.

In his first season at FSU in 2026, Beard was 18th in the NCAA in strikeouts per nine innings (12.84) and sixth in the ACC in strikeout-to-walk ratio (4.04) and eighth in strikeouts (97). He made 14 appearances with 12 starts and notched a 6-1 record with one save and a 4.50 ERA in 68.0 innings, second-most on the team. Beard allowed 34 earned runs on 61 hits with 97 strikeouts and 24 walks. He had a WHIP of 1.25 and held opponents to a .236 batting average.

Beard is the 10th Seminole selected by the Marlins and the sixth pitcher. Miami has drafted four FSU players in the last two seasons, after outfielder Max Williams (third round), second baseman Drew Faurot (fourth round) and left-handed pitcher Joey Volini (sixth round) were picked by the club in the 2025 draft.

BRYSON MOORE – PITTSBURGH PIRATES – SEVENTH ROUND, 198TH OVERALL
Named to the ABCA Southeast All-Region Second Team, Moore also earned Academic All-District and All-ACC Academic Team honors in 2026. He was named the ACC Pitcher of the Week on April 6.

Moore was eighth in the ACC in hits allowed per nine innings (7.71) and 10th in the league in WHIP (1.23). He started all 14 games he appeared in and posted a 6-2 record with a 3.86 ERA in his first year at Florida State. A native of Fairfax, Virginia, Moore allowed 29 earned runs on 58 hits in 67.2 innings while striking out 65 and walking 25. He held opponents to a .230 batting average.

Moore is the ninth FSU player drafted by the Pirates and the sixth pitcher. He's the first selected by the organization since right-hander Gavin Adams (eighth round) in 2024.

COLE STOKES – TAMPA BAY RAYS – 12TH ROUND, 353RD OVERALL
An All-ACC Academic Team awardee, Stokes appeared in 18 games in 2026, all out of the bullpen. In his first season as a Seminole, Stokes had a record of 1-2 with a 5.60 ERA in 17.2 innings. He allowed 11 earned runs on 10 hits with 25 strikeouts and 20 walks. The Redondo Beach, California, native posted a 1.70 WHIP and opponents had a .164 batting average.

Stokes is the fourth player picked by the Rays and the first pitcher. The last Seminole drafted by Tampa Bay was shortstop and current Major Leaguer Taylor Walls (third round) in 2017.

BRODIE PURCELL – CINCINNATI REDS – 12TH ROUND, 362ND OVERALL
Recognized on the Tallahassee Regional All-Regional Team, Purcell was second on the team with 23 appearances in 2026, all in relief in his inaugural FSU campaign. He earned a 5-2 record, the most wins by a reliever, with three saves in 38.0 innings. He allowed 20 earned runs on 29 hits with 58 strikeouts and 21 walks while holding opponents to a .207 batting average with a 1.32 WHIP.

Purcell is the 12th Florida State player selected by the Reds and the seventh pitcher. He's the second in as many years to go to Cincinnati, along with right-handed pitcher Maison Martinez (16th round) in 2025.

This weekend's seven drafted players helped the Seminoles to a 40-19 season in 2026. Florida State reached the 40-win mark for the third consecutive year after a four-year gap without 40 wins from 2020-23. Finishing third in the ACC, the team was 19-11 with eight series wins, both the best totals since 2014 outside of the extended 2021 season. FSU made Its 62nd NCAA appearance, second-most all-time, and hosted an NCAA Regional for the 38th time, the most in the country. Florida State is one of three teams to host a regional each of the last three years.
