Earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology as he graduated from Florida State University on May 4, 2019…one of the most athletically gifted players in Florida State history who was a member of three NCAA Tournament teams and played in six career NCAA Tournament games…finished his five-year career at Florida State ranked eighth in school history with 133 games played, 23rd in school history with 83 games started and tied for 17th in school history with a .366 career 3-point field goal percentage…finished his career just 23 points shy of 1,000 for his career and among the top 50 all-time scorers in school history…granted a medical hardship waiver by the NCAA on May 25, 2018 giving him a fifth season to play for the Seminoles as a redshirt senior during the 2018-19 season…Florida State applied for the medical hardship waiver after Cofer played in only 11 games and 132 minutes as a sophomore during the 2015-16 season because of injuries…missed much of his second season as a Seminole after undergoing ankle surgery on January 4, 2016 – a procedure that kept him out of the lineup for the remainder of the season…missed the first nine games of the 2018-19 season as he continued rehab on his foot and ankle…helped Florida State to three NCAA Tournament appearances – the Elite Eight in 2018, the Sweet 16 in 2019 and the round of 32 in 2017…played in six NCAA Tournament games as a Seminole…averaged 10.5 points per game in Florida State’s incredible run to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament with victories over No. 8 seed Missouri (March 16, 2018; 67-54); No. 1 seed Xavier (March 18, 2018; 75-70) and No. 4 seed Gonzaga (March 22, 2018; 75-60)…it was Florida State’s first trip to the Elite Eight since 1993…marked the first time in school history the Seminoles defeated three teams seeded higher than them in the NCAA Tournament…totaled nine points and four rebounds in Florida State’s victory over Missouri…scored 10 points and pulled down three rebounds in the Seminoles’ win over Xavier…scored seven points and blocked one shot as Florida State defeated Gonzaga…totaled a double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds against Michigan (March 24, 2018; 54-58) as the Seminoles fell to the Big Ten Champions only one game short of the second Final Four appearance in school history…his career-high of six 3-point shots made at Duke (Dec. 30, 2017) are tied for the 16th best single game effort in school history…Florida State was successful against nationally ranked teams during Cofer’s career with 22 wins over teams ranked in the nation’s top-25…helped the Seminoles defeat a school-record tying seven nationally ranked teams as a junior and gain wins over six nationally ranked teams as a senior and as a redshirt senior…two of the wins over nationally ranked teams came against No. 3 Xavier (March 18, 2018; 75-70) and No. 8 Gonzaga (March 22, 2018; 75-60) in the 2018 NCAA Tournament…his play during the 2016-17 season helped Florida State earn a 26-9 record, finish in second place in the ACC standings and earn a school-record tying No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament…the Seminoles won a near-school record 26 games and tied the school record with 12 ACC wins during the regular season…Florida State won a school-record 29 overall games and a school-record 13 ACC games during his redshirt senior season…was a highlight reel during his career who has exhibited an incredible array of high-flying dunks, blocked shots and rebounds that made the nation stand up and take notice of the ultra-talented forward…one of the most popular players inside of the Seminoles’ locker room throughout his career and will always be known as a player who brought laughter and positivity to the entire team…earned the No. 1 Play of the Day on ESPN with his monstrous, seen and heard around the college basketball world dunk over ACC Player of the Year and 2015 No. 3 overall NBA Draft Choice Jahlil Okafor of Duke on February 9, 2015 as the Seminoles played host to the No. 5 ranked Blue Devils in Tallahassee… Said ESPN’s Shane Battier: “This might be a SportsCenter Top 10 – Phil Cofer sending it in with authority over the big fella. This was a fantastic baseline attack by Cofer. One way to attack a shot blocker is to go right through his chest and that’s what he (Cofer) did right there. AS A REDSHIRT SENIOR (2019)

Averaged 7.4 points (fifth on the team) and 3.5 rebounds (fifth) while making 29 3-point field goals (fifth) and playing in 22 games and averaging 26.1 minutes played per game (fourth)…was granted a fifth season of eligibility by the NCAA on May 25, 2019 and made the most of his return…played in 22 of Florida State’s 37 games as his foot healed from off-season surgery…started 19 of the 22 games he appeared in as a redshirt senior and averaged 7.5 points scored per game…helped Florida State finish the 2018-19 season with a 29-8 overall record and a 13-5 record in ACC play…the Seminoles’ 29 wins set a new school record for wins in a season while their 13 wins set a school record for conference wins in a season…the Seminoles finished in fourth place in the ACC standings with their record setting total of conference wins…was at his best in the ACC Tournament as he helped the Seminoles advance to the Championship Game for the third time in school history…averaged 8.0 points and 2.7 rebounds as Florida State defeated Virginia Tech in overtime (March 14, 2019, 65-63) and No. 2 and National Champion Virginia (March 15, 2019, 79-69) before falling to Duke in the championship game (March 16, 73-63)…scored in double figures in six games as a redshirt senior including his season high of 21 points in Florida State’s game against Duke at the Donald L. Averaged a career-high 12.8 points (first on the team), a career high 5.1 rebounds (second) and a career-high 29.3 minutes played (first) as a starter in each of the Seminoles’ 35 games as he led Florida State to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament…led the Seminoles in games played (35), games started (35), minutes played (1,026), minutes played per games (29.3), field goals attempted (346), defensive rebounds (122), points scored (449) and points scored per game (12.8)…the Seminoles’ leading scorer in the NCAA Tournament with a 10.5 points per game scoring average and named to the West Regional All-Tournament Team in leading Florida State to the Elite Eight with wins over No. 8 seed Missouri (March 16, 2018; against Xavier, 10 points and against Michigan, 16 points)…totaled two double-doubles (10 points and 12 rebounds in Florida State’s win over Florida and 16 points and 12 rebounds in the Seminoles’ Elite Eight game in the NCAA Tournament against Michigan) to bring his career total to three…his first career double-double came at Pitt (21 points and 11 rebounds) on Jan. 14, 2015…scored 19 points and added four rebounds in a career-high tying 37 minutes in Florida State’s victory over Rutgers in the ACC Big Ten Challenge…made four of five shots from the 3-point line in the Seminoles’ win over the Scarlet Knights (Nov. 28)…scored 21 points and pulled down eight rebounds in Florida State’s victory over Miami in Tallahassee (Jan. 27)…was his second consecutive game with at least 21 points as he totaled 23 points and four rebounds in Florida State’s game at Wake Forest (Jan. 31).

AS A JUNIOR (2017)

Averaged 2.9 points and 1.9 rebounds as he played in 32 of the Seminoles’ 35 games including both games in the ACC Tournament and both in the NCAA Tournament…a starter in Florida State’s victory over George Washington in the BB&T Classic at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. and against Notre Dame in the second round of the ACC Tournament at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn…earned playing time in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in his career with appearances against both Florida Gulf Coast and Xavier…scored his season-high of 13 points in 20 minutes of play in Florida State’s victory over Iona at the Donald L. Tucker Center in Tallahassee (Nov. 15)…pulled down a season-high tying six rebounds in the Seminoles’ victory over the Gaels as the Seminoles improved to 2-0 on the season…totaled his season-high of 13 points and pulled down six rebounds in Florida State’s victory over the Gaels…scored seven points on a perfect three of three shooting from the field in the first half to lead Florida State to a robust 47-32 halftime lead on their way to a 99-78 win in upping their record to 2-0…finished the game as he made a season high of six field goals on eight attempts…was five of six from the free throw line in scoring nine points in the Seminoles’ 83-67 win over Manhattan at the Orange Bowl Classic at the BB&T Center in Sunrise, Fla (Dec. 17)…was a perfect two of two from the field and a perfect four of four from the free throw line in scoring eight points and leading the Seminoles to a 46-41 halftime lead over the Jaspers…scored four consecutive points for the Seminoles in a 50 second span (on a tip-in at the 15:34 mark and a layup at the 14:44 mark) to break a tie and give Florida State a 15-11 advantage…two of two free throws at the 5:18 mark of the first half broke a tie and gave the Seminoles a 34-32 advantage…the Seminoles led for the remainder of the game and took a 20-point second half advantage in winning their sixth consecutive Orange Bowl Classic victory…his five of six made free throws were both season highs…his five made free throws were only one off of his career-high of six that came at Pitt on Jan, 14, 2016…scored his ACC season-high of eight points in Florida State’s 95-71 win over NC State…made his career-high of two 3-point shots in the Seminoles’ win over the Wolfpack…totaled six points in ACC play in win over Clemson (Feb. 5) and against Virginia Tech (March 8) in the ACC Tournament at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn…scored five points – three in the second half on a 3-point shot – in Florida State’s momentum building win over No. 11 Virginia in Charlottesville (Dec. 31)…his second half 3-point shot at the 13:07 mark proved to be one of the biggest shots of the season…his 3-pointer pulled Florida State to within one point at 39-38 after the Seminoles trailed by as many as five early in the second half. began a 25-19 game-ending run that helped Florida State go from a 39-35 deficit with 13:34 remaining to a 60-58 win on a buzzer-beating, game-winning shot by future NBA draft choice Dwayne Bacon with under five seconds remaining to be played in the game…productive with a 1.8 points per game and 2.0 rebounds per game averages in one of the most important six-game stretch in the history of the Seminole basketball program…the Seminoles earned a 5-1 record against six consecutive ranked teams (No. 11 Virginia, No. 23 Virginia Tech, No. 7 Duke, No. 11 North Carolina, No. 15 Notre Dame and No. 12 Louisville) – a streak that vaulted the Seminoles into the nation’s No. 6 ranking…totaled 11 points and 12 rebounds during the stretch including two points and four rebounds in Florida State’s 83-80 win over Notre Dame at the Donald L. Tucker Center (Jan, 15)…also scored five points in the Seminoles over Virginia in Charlottesville…averaged 11.2 minutes played per game in the season-defining six-game series…the Seminoles’ 5-1 record in this six games marked the most success an ACC team has ever had in a string of six consecutive games against nationally ranked teams…his season-high of six rebounds (including a season-high four offensive rebounds) came in Florida State’s 99-78 win over Iona and in the Seminoles’ ACC game at Pitt (Feb. 18)…also totaled five rebounds in Florida State’s victory over Samford (Dec. 19)…closed his junior season well on the boards with nine rebounds in his last three games including three in Florida State’s victory over Virginia Tech in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament (March 8)…totaled seven steals with one each coming in seven different games…five of his seven steals came against ACC competition with one coming against Notre Dame in the ACC Tournament…played his season-high of 23 minutes in Florida State’s game at Pitt and played in double figure minutes in 24 of his 32 appearances…20 minutes or more in four different games – Iona (20), Temple (22), Samford (22) and at Pitt (23).

AS A SOPHOMORE (2016)

Averaged 3.8 points, 2.0 rebounds 0.4 steals and 0.3 blocked shots while shooting .565 from the field in limited playing time because of an ankle injury…played in Florida State’s first 11 games of the season (all before the Christmas Holiday break) was a starter in Florida State’s first three games of the season (in victories against Nicholls State and Jacksonville and against Hofstra) and was a top reserve in his final eight games of the season…following the Seminoles’ victory over Charleston Southern on Dec. 21 he, along with Florida State’s coaching staff, decided to have surgery on a bothersome right ankle and put an end to his season…he underwent surgery on Jan. 4, 2016 and did not play in any of the Seminoles’ remaining games…also had a screw inserted into his left ankle about two weeks later…scored his season high of nine points in Florida State’s season-opening victory over Nicholls State (Nov. 15) and in the Seminoles’ victory at home against Southeastern Louisiana (Dec. 13)…scored at least two points in nine of the 11 games in which he played…averaged 4.3 points and 3.3 rebounds as a starter and 3.2 points and 1.3 rebounds as one of the Seminoles’ first players off of the bench…scored six points in Florida State’s win over DePaul as he was a perfect three-of-three from the field in the Seminoles’ victory in the second round of the Paradise Jam (Nov. 21)…pulled down five rebounds against Nicholls State and against Hofstra in the first round of the Paradise Jam at the University of the Virgin Islands (Nov. 20)…totaled at least one rebound in 10 of the 11 games in which he earned playing time…earned 25 minutes of playing time in the Seminoles’ 109-62 win over Nicholls State and played in double figure minutes in seven of his 11 appearances…shot the ball well against Nicholls State as he made three of four shots from the field (.750 percent) and three of four shots from the free throw line (.750)…his nine-point performance against Southeastern Louisiana included two of three shots (.667 percent) made from the field and five of shots (.833 percent) made from the free throw line…shot .842 from the free throw line as he was perfect in victories over Jacksonville (two-of-two, 1.000 percent), VCU (two-of-two, 1.000 percent) and Mississippi State (two of two, 1.000 percent)…averaged 3.3 points in those three games with four points against Jacksonville, four against VCU and two against Mississippi State…was 16 of 19 from the free throw line in limited playing time as he worked tremendously hard to improve his stroke from the free throw line…shot .842 from the free throw line in limited playing time as compared to .632 from the free throw line during 34 games as a freshman – an improvement of 21 percentage points.

AT WHITEWATER

Graduated from Whitewater High School in 2013…averaged a double double of 18.0 points and 10.9 rebounds in two seasons as a member of the Whitewater varsity…shot .580 from the field during his two varsity seasons…totaled 116 career blocked shots including 73 as a senior (3.0 bpg)…averaged a double double of 19.3 points and 12.8 rebounds to go along with 3.0 blocked shots in 24 games as a senior…led Whitewater to an 18-10 record and a berth in the Georgia High School Scholastic Association Class 5A state tournament as a senior…earned All-State First Team honors in 2014 as he was named to the 5A All-State team by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution…led Whitewater to the state championship playoffs and to the best record in Atlanta’s Region Class 5A classification…Whitewater won two games in the state playoffs in only the second appearance in the state championship tournament since the school opened in 2005…named the Fayette County Player of the Year and to the All-County First Team by the Fayette County News…an All-State Second Team selection to the American Family Insurance All-Georgia team in 2014…scored his senior season high of 35 points in a win over South Cobb and scored at least 20 points  nine times and scored in double figures in 23 of 24 games… totaled his season high of 19 rebounds in a win over Landmark Christian and pulled down at least 15 rebounds in six different games…recorded double figures rebounds in 21 of 24 games…totaled 10 double-doubles in points and rebounds in his 24 games as a senior…played in the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association’s North-South All-Star game following his senior season…averaged a near double-double of 16.7 points and 8.9 rebounds as a junior and scored his season high of 42 points in a win over Landmark Christian…scored 20 points or more seven times as a junior including his 42-point outing and a 30-point scoring game in a victory over Northgate High School…earned All-State Second Team honors in Class 5A from the Georgia Sportswriters Association as a junior…

PERSONAL

Born June 19, 1996…Philip is the son of Michael and Reba Cofer…Michael played football at the University of Tennessee and then in the NFL after being drafted by the Detroit Lions in 1983…played 10 seasons in the NFL, all with the Lions and was named to the Pro Bowl in 1988 after earning 12 sacks…led the Lions in sacks each season from 1987 through 1990…his father played at Tennessee under the legendry Johnny Majors…Reba played women’s basketball at Tennessee…originally signed with Tennessee but was released from his National Letter of Intent after a coaching change in Knoxville…narrowed his choices to Florida State, Tennessee, Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech in May of 2014 before deciding to become a Seminole.
