SERIES HISTORY VS. STANFORD
Florida State is 11-9 all-time against Stanford, including 6-3 in Tallahassee, 3-4 in Stanford and 2-2 at a neutral site. This weekend will be the first matchup as ACC opponents, while eight of the first 20 contests have come in the NCAA Tournament, four of them at the College World Series, where FSU is 6-2 overall and 2-2 in Omaha. The series began with a 9-4 NCAA Regional win in 1992, followed by a 5-4 victory at Stanford, also in regional play. The most recent matchup came in the 2012 Super Regional at Howser, where the Seminoles went 2-0 to advance to the CWS with 17-1 and 18-7 wins.

In Omaha, the two teams played three times at Rosenblatt Stadium in 1999, with the Cardinal taking a 10-6 contest before Florida State won 8-6 three days later. The next day, FSU was victorious 14-11 in 13 innings to advance to the CWS Final. Nine years later, in 2008, the two squads met again at the College World Series, and Stanford won 16-5.

SCOUTING THE CARDINAL
Stanford is 18-19 on the season, including 11-12 at home, 5-5 on the road and 2-2 at a neutral site. The Cardinal are 7-11 in the ACC and tied for 10th place following a series loss to Miami last weekend. Stanford has won two in a row, with a 6-4 win at Santa Clara on Wednesday night after a 14-6 victory against Miami to conclude a three-game series from April 17-19. In league play, SU owns series wins at Virginia Tech and at Louisville.

LAST TIME OUT: ROADTRIP-OPENING WIN IN JACKSONVILLE
Florida State began its roadtrip with a 4-1 win at North Florida on Tuesday night in Jacksonville. The Seminoles benefited from single runs in four different innings as eight pitchers held the Ospreys to one run on five hits. That run came in the sixth, after FSU had already plated one in the third, another in the fifth and one in the sixth. Florida State's final run was an insurance tally in the eighth. Putnam led the team with three RBI, while Dowd and junior third baseman Cal Fisher both had two hits apiece. On the mound, freshman right-hander Manny Lantigua made his first career start and earned the win, his first. Seven relievers followed him, which included junior righty Chris Knier, who got the final out and earned his fourth save of 2026. Florida State is 15-5 all-time against North Florida and 2-2 in Jacksonville. The Seminoles have won four in a row, including both contests this season.

A recap and box score is available here.
