ON JOHNSON (CAREER AVERAGE: 75.61 / LOW ROUND: 69)

Decided on July 18, 2022 to enroll at Ole Miss where she will complete her playing career…her performance in the 2022 NCAA Championship Finals not only vaulted Florida State into match play and to a program-best tied for fifth place finish, but it vaulted her into position to become a prime time player for the Seminoles during her senior season…she finished in a tie for 65th place in the individual standings of the 2022 NCAA Championships, but it was her play in the in the final three rounds with scores of 73-75-73 that helped send Florida State into match play in the NCAA Championship Finals for the first time in school history…inserted into the Seminoles’ lineup one day before the beginning of the NCAA Championship Finals in 2022 and played the best golf of her Seminole career in leading Florida State to a program best finish of tie for fifth in the event…played in the NCAA Championships for the first time in her career in 2022…ranks 19th in school history with her career stroke average of 75.61 entering her senior season…played in a career-high five events during the spring of 2022 and in a career-high six events as a junior during the 2021-22 season…her six events as a junior were nearly as many (seven) as she played in during her freshman and sophomore seasons combined…enjoyed her best single-year stroke average (75.40) during the fall and spring seasons of her junior year…carded her career-best single round score of 69 in the first round of the Valspar Augusta Invitational in the spring of 2021…her career-best three round tournament score (219) and score vs. par (+3) came in the Jim West Challenge in the fall of 2019…her career best finish of tied for 26th came as she played as an individual in the spring 2020 Florida State Match-Up at Bay Point Golf Club in Panama City, Fla….was ranked as high as the No 3 player in the South Carolina Golf Association junior rankings prior to beginning her career at Florida State…won the individual high school state championship as a junior in 2017…finished tied for fourth place in the individual standings of the 2018 high school state championship tournament…played in the 2019 U.S. Women’s Amateur for the first time in her career…qualified for the 2019 U.S. Women’s Amateur as she shot a 72 at the Bermuda Run Country Club in Advance, N.C…a total of 12 top-10 individual junior golf finishes in 2017…won the championship of the Henry Transou Memorial Junior in 2016 and 2018…earned Florida State University President’s List Honors in the fall of 2019 and the spring of 2020 for a perfect 4.0 GPA…earned Dean’s List Academic Honors in the fall of 2020 and the spring of 2021…named to the 2020 and 2021 ACC Academic Honor Roll…earned the Golden Torch for the Florida State women’s golf team in 2019…the award is presented for outstanding academic achievements by the FSU Department of Athletics and the Seminole Boosters…a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee for the 2021-22 academic year…averages 75.61 strokes in 12 career events entering her senior season. 

SUMMER 2022

Won the individual championship of the Florida Women’s Amateur Stroke Play Championship at the Coral Creek Club in Placida, Fla (July 8-10)…carded a course record round of 65  in the final round to claim victory…she began the final round six shots off the lead but quickly moved into the lead with a spectacular front nine, 5-under, 31…Johnson’s front nine consisted of five birdies and four pars…she continued her spectacular play  with two more birdies and one lone bogie on the difficult 18th hole…her score of 65 is a course record round at Coral Creek Club for women…advanced to the second round of match play at the Southern Amateur at the Hunting Creek Country Club in Prospect, Ky…carded a 3-over par score of 75 and finished tied for second in stroke play…defeated Emma Lindemoen by a 5&4 margin in the first round of match play…lost to Sadanun Sitanoth in the second round of match play by a 5&3 score…

SPRING 2022 (SEASON AVERAGE: 75.40 / LOW ROUND: 72)

Played in a career-high six events including the NCAA Division I Championship Finals for the first time in her career…played the best golf of her career with a tied for 65th place in the NCAA Championship Finals as she helped the Seminoles to a program-best sixth place finish in the stroke play portion of the championship where they faced Texas A&M…the Seminoles’ sixth place finish allowed them to advance to the match play portion of the event where they finished in a tie for fifth place in the final standings…a score of five over par 221 in the final three rounds of stroke play (73-75-73) for an average of 73.67 strokes to help propel the Seminoles into their best-finish ever and a program best finish in the NCAA Championships of tied for fifth…won her match with a 3&2 decision over Hailee Cooper of Texas A&M in the quarterfinals…marked the first time the Seminoles had advanced to match play in the history of the tournament…Florida State finished in a tie for fifth place in the final standings of the NCAA Championship Finals…carded an 84 and was in a tie for 129th place in the individual standings of the NCAA Division I Championships after the first round of play…carded a 1 over par 73 in the second round — an 11 stroke improvement from day one of the championship…her play in the second round helped the Seminoles into seventh place in the team standings after 36 holes of play…totaled scores of 84-73-75 for a three-round total of 232 after 54 holes of the NCAA Championship Finals…earned her career-best finish with a tied for 18th place placing at the Valspar Augusta Invitational…scores of 75-72 for a two round total of 147 at the Valspar Augusta Invitational helped the Seminoles finish in third place in the team standings…finished in 26th place in the individual standings and helped the Seminoles to the team championship at the Moon Invitational…was in a tie for 32nd place with a first round score of 74 at the Moon Invitational…moved into a tie for 34th place with a second round 74 and a two round total of 148…moved up eight positions in the individual standings with a final round score of 72 and a three-round total of 220…the Seminoles led the event wire-to-wire and claimed their first championship of the spring season…finished in a tie for 28th place in the individual standings at the Florida State Match Up with scores of 75-75-76 and a three round total of 226…helped Florida State finish in second place in the team standings in the Match Up…finished in a tie for 38th place in the individual standings with a three round total of 230 (80-75-75) at the Clemson Invitational…helped the Seminoles finish in fifth place in the team standings at Clemson…helped Florida State to a 2-1 record in the Wolfpack Match Up Invitational… averaged 75.40 strokes in 15 rounds during five countable events.

WINTER 2021 AT THE ORLANDO INTERNATIONAL AMATEUR

Finished in a tie for 5th place in the standings at the Orlando International Amateur at the Orange County National Golf Center and Lodge (Jan. 4-6, 2022)…shot a 69 in the final round and finished the event with scores 71-69 (140) over the final 36 holes to finish with a with an even par score of 216…she improved her standing by 50 positions over the final 36 holes to place the top five of the leaderboard…was in a tie for 55th place in the standings with a 4 over par 76 in the first round the championship…with a score of 71 in the second round, she moved up 31 spots in the top 25….was T24 with a two-round total of 147…played the second-best round of the day (3 under par 69) in the final day to finish in the top five.  

WINTER 2021 AT THE CITRUS GOLF TRAIL LADIES INVITATIONAL

Finished in sixth place at the Citrus Golf Trail Ladies Invitational (Dec. 28-31, 2021) with scores of 73-75-72-72 for a four-round total of 292…finished the 72-hole tournament only five strokes from earning medalist honors…was even par (144) over the course of the final 36 holes of the championship…was in a tie for eighth place in the individual standings with a 1 over par 73 after the first of three rounds…played 13 holes at par or better – and was only three strokes out of the lead after the first 18 holes of play…her second round score of 75 gave her a total of 148 and had her in a tie for 10th place after 36 of the 72 holes of the tournament had been played…she was only five strokes out of the lead beginning the third round…even par score of 72 in the third round moved her into a tie for seventh place…closed out the four-round championship in sixth place with an even par score of 72 and a four-round total of 292.

FALL 2021

Played in one event during the season and helped Florida State to the championship of the Inaugural Barbara Nicklaus Cup at Muirfield Village Golf course in Dublin, Oh. (Oct. 4-5)…fell in the first day morning foursomes to Austin Coggin and Mychael O’Barry of Auburn, 2UP…teamed with Michael Skane of the Seminole men’s team in the opening matches of the tournament…Florida State defeated Auburn by a 7-1 mark in the first of three matches for the Seminoles in the event…helped Florida State to a 6-1-1 win over Ohio State with a 3&2 win over Aneka Seumanutafa in afternoon singles play to move the Seminoles to 2-0 on the first day of the Barbara Nicklaus Cup…played against Arizona State in the mixed foursome competitions with Connor Futrell…Johnson and Futrell gained a 3UP victory over Josele Ballestar and Breyana Matthews of Arizona State on the second day of competition…Arizona State defeated Florida State 4-2-2…the Seminoles won the team championship with a 2-1 record and 16.5 total team points…Johnson earned a 2-1 record with one mixed foursome win and one singles win in the Nicklaus Cup.

 

 

SUMMER 2021

Finished in sixth place at the South Carolina Women’s Open at the Cobblestone Golf Club in Blythewood, S.C. with scores of 75-72-69 for a three round total of 216…played well throughout the event and moved up from a tied for 10th place standing after one round to T9 after two rounds to sixth in the final standings…her score of score 69 in the final round was the second best of the final round of the event…carded a 4 over par 75 and was in a tie for 10th place after the first of three rounds…carded a 1 over par score of 72 in the second of three rounds and was tied for ninth with 147 total heading into the final round….finished in 45th place at the Florida Women’s Open with scores of 75-75-79 and a three-round total of 229…was in a tie for sixth place after two rounds with scores of 69-72=141…the event was played on the Riomar Country Club and Pointe West Country Club courses…finished in a tie for 53rd place in the Inaugural Sea Island Women’s Amateur on the Seaside Course at the Sea Island (Ga.) Golf Club…was a tie for 45th place after the second round with scores of 74-76=150…finished with scores of 74-76-79 for a three round total of 229.

SPRING 2021 (SEASON AVERAGE: 75.75 / LOW ROUND: 69)

Played in a career-high four events in helping the Seminoles qualify for the NCAA Louisville Regional Championship…played as an individual in the four events in which she appeared – the Moon Invitational, the Florida State March Up, The Valspar Augusta Invitational and the Pinetree Women’s Collegiate…carded her career-low score of 69 in the first round of the Valspar Augusta Women’s Invitational…finished in a tie for 51st place in the individual standings of the Moon Invitational…the leading individual after the first round of play in the Moon Invitational with an 18 hole score of 74…carded an even par score of 72 in the second round of the Moon Invitational for the two-round total of 146 — one stroke off of her career best score for 36 holes…finished as the top individual in the Moon Invitational with a 221 score and scores of 74-72-75…played as an individual in the Florida State Match-Up…in a tie for 40th place after a first round score of 77…second round score of 75 gave her a 36-hole total of 152…finished in a tie for 53rd place at the Florida State Match-Up with scores of 77-75-84 for a three-round total of 236…her first round career-low score of 69 at the Valspar Augusta Invitational had her in a tie for 10th place in the individual standings…first two scores at the Valspar Augusta Invitational were 69-77 and her total of 146 and put her in a tie for 35th place in the individual standings after two rounds…finished in a tie for 40th place at the Valspar Augusta Invitational with scores of 69-77-75 for a three round total of 5 over par total of 221…played as an individual in the Pinetree Collegiate…was in a tie for 22nd in the individual standings with a first round score of 76…finished in 42nd place in the Pinetree Collegiate with scores of 76-79-76 and a three round total of 231…averaged 75.75 strokes in 12 rounds during four events.

WINTER 2021

Finished in a tie for 41st place at the South Atlantic Women’s Amateur Championship (The Sally) at the Oceanside Golf Country Club in Ormond Beach, Fla. (January 6-9, 2021)…totaled scores of 77-76-82-75 for a four-round total of 310.

FALL 2020

Played on one event on the GolfWeek Collegiate Series as the college golf schedule was put on pause by the Covid-19 pandemic…finished in 16th place in the individual standings of the GolfWeek Sandestin Amateur with scores of 76-79-75 for a three round total of 230.

SUMMER 2020

Finished in third place in the South Carolina Open Amateur Championship at the Cobblestone Park Golf Club in Blythewood, S.C…was in a tie for first place with a first round score of 69…maintained her first place standing after two rounds with scores of 69-70 for a two-round total of 139…finished with a 1 under par total of 215 for the three round tournament.

SPRING 2020 (SEASON AVERAGE: 77.67 / LOW ROUND: 75)

Played in one event in the Seminoles’ shortened season…an individual in the Florida State Match-Up at Bay Point Golf Club in Panama City, Fla.…was in a tie for 27th place in the individual standings with scores of 75-82 for a 36-hole total of 157 after two rounds of play…finished in a career-best tied for 26th place with scores of 75-82-76 for a three-round total of 233…was the highest finishing of the six individual players in the Florida State Match-Up…a 77.67 strokes in three rounds during one tournament.

FALL 2019 (SEASON AVERAGE: 74.83 / LOW ROUND: 71)

Played in two events – the Jim West Challenge and the Landfall Tradition — during her first semester as a Seminole…made her Florida State debut in the Jim West Challenge at the Kissing Tree Golf Course on San Marcos, Texas…carded her career-best single-round score of 71 in the first round of the Jim West Challenge – her first round as a Seminole…totaled one round at par or better and four of six rounds with scores at 75 or better…carded a 1 under par 71 in her first career round at the Jim West Challenge…was in a tie for 34th place in the individual standings after the first round of the Jim West Challenge…a two-round total of 145 had her in a tie for 43rd after 36 holes of the Jim West Challenge…finished her first career collegiate tournament in a tie for 43rd place with scores of 71-74-74 for a 3 over par total of 219…finished tied for third among her Florida State teammates at the Jim West Challenge…in the lineup for the second consecutive event at the Landfall Tradition…carded a 77 in the first round with two birdies…was in a tie for 72nd place after the first round…moved up 16 spaces in the individual standings after two rounds of the Landfall Tradition and was in a tied for 56th place in the individual standings after 36 holes had been played…finished in a tie for 64th place in the individual standings of the Landfall Tradition with scores of 77-74-79 for a three round score of 230…averaged a career-low 74.83 strokes in six rounds during two tournaments.

SUMMER 2019

Played in her first career U.S. Women’s Amateur at the Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point, Miss…in a tie for 153rd place after two rounds of stroke play…finished play in the U.S. Amateur after two rounds of stroke play with scores of 85-85=170.

BEFORE FLORIDA STATE

Graduated from Spartanburg High School in 2019…earned two top-five state championships finishes as a junior and a senior…the individual State Champion, Regional Champion and finished as the Upperstate runner-up in South Carolina as a junior in 2017…shot identical rounds of 71 to finish at 2 strokes under par in winning the 5A State Championship in 2017…named the Spartanburg Herald–Journal Upstate Golfer of the Year in 2017 after winning the 5A State Championship…earned 5A All-State honors as a junior and a senior…the 5A Regional Champion in both 2015 and 2017…earned 5A All-Region Honors in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018…earned All-Region Honors and named the Co-Regional Player of the Year as a sophomore as she tied for medalist honors with a score of 70 in the Regional Championship Tournament as a sophomore…earned six varsity letters on the Spartanburg High School varsity team (2013 to 2018)…helped the Vikings qualify as a team for the state tournament in 2016 as she led the team with a score of 72…finished in second place in the Region III-5A Tournament as a sophomore…earned All-Region honors for the regional finish in 2015…won the individual championship at the Beth Daniel Junior Azalea Tournament with scores of 74-73 during the summer of 2016 – just prior to the beginning of her sophomore season.
