TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Seminoles.com) – The No. 11 ranked Florida State Women’s Golf Team remains in first place in the team standings after the second round of the Florida State Match Up held Saturday at Seminole Legacy Club. FSU holds a commanding 20-shot lead over second place Kent State after totaling 12-under through the first two rounds.

Florida State junior Beatrice Wallin shot a 4 under par 72 in the second round of the Florida State Match-Up and has a strong hold on her first-place position in the individual standings. Overall, she is at 10-under for the tournament, seven shots ahead of second-place Nicole Abelar (-3) from Coastal Carolina.

Florida State is the only team in the tournament with a team score under par after two rounds of play. The Seminoles were the only team to score under par in each of the first two rounds this weekend, scoring six under par as a team in both days. This is the fifth consecutive round that the Seminoles have scored under par.

“I thought we played a great round of golf today, especially when the wind picked up,” FSU head coach Amy Bond said. “They handled the conditions well and made the shots when they needed to. I am excited to head into the final round with the lead. Our goal for tomorrow is to play each hole and each shot as it comes.”

Wallin and Charlotte Heath are two of only four players to score at or below par in the first and second rounds of the tournament. Wallin carded scores of 66-68 and Heath recorded scores of 72-70.

Wallin hit six under par in the first round and four under par in the second round. She totaled six birdies on the front nine of the first round and four birdies in the back nine of the second round.

Heath also played exceptionally well for the Seminoles, currently in third place individually. Heath recorded an eagle in the first round and carded five birdies in the second round to secure her position.

The Seminoles currently have three players tied for fourth place: junior Amelia Williamson and freshmen Taylor Roberts and Alice Hodge. All three players have carded a score of one over par after two rounds of play.

Williamson had three birdies in the second round, shooting a 1-under 71.

Roberts finished the second round with 13 holes scored at par and carded two birdies.

Hodge, who had one eagle and one birdie in the second round, is also currently tied for fourth place.

The Seminoles will continue play in the Florida State Match-Up on Sunday. Florida State will be playing with Kent State (+8) and Clemson (+19) in the final round.
