GUADALAJARA, Mexico – Florida State's Amy Bond might not need a plane to get her Seminoles to the spring season opening Collegiate Invitational at the Guadalajara Country Club this week. With the level of excitement and enthusiasm as high as it is within her team, her starting lineup may teleport themselves to the first round tee box before Bond even begins to pack for the trip.

"I can't remember an entire group of girls so excited to begin a season," said Bond just days before the opening match of her 14th spring season. "Each of the girls has made practice so far this semester easier than I could have imagined it would be. Not only are each of the eight girls excited and working hard on their games, but they are helping each other like I never seen before."

Bond calls it a new beginning.

A new beginning because she feels the Seminoles' lineup can compete with any lineup in college golf. Her starting five for the Collegiate Invitational at Guadalajara includes three All-Americans (Charlotte Heath, Mirabel Ting, and Lottie Woad), an incredibly experienced senior (Alice Hodge), and a junior (Kaylah Williams) who has appeared in 15 matches during her Florida State career.

Woad (a two-time All-American and National Freshman of the Year in 2023) and Heath (a four-time All-American) are joined by Ting (an All-American as a freshman at Augusta University in 2023) to create one of the top golf trios in the nation. The three exceptional golfers have a cumulative stroke average of 71.53 strokes in 152 rounds during 52 combined career events. Woad and Heath are the No. 2 and No. 3 ranked golfers in Florida State history, with career stroke averages of 70.68 and 71.91, respectively. Ting earned a 71.56 stroke average as a freshman in six events and 16 rounds as she earned All-American Second-Team honors by the WGCA.

"I'm excited to get the spring season started after some good practices in the off-season," said Woad, who is on the ANNIKA Award Watch List as the top player in all of collegiate golf. "And I'm looking forward to getting to travel to Mexico again."

Florida State will play in the Collegiate Invitational at Guadalajara for the second consecutive year and for the third time since 2020. Woad and Heath finished tied for fourth in the individual standings a year ago, with Hodge finishing in 27th place and Williams in the top 50 as the Seminoles finished as the runner-up to Baylor.

Virginia won the inaugural event in 2020. In 2023, Baylor won the event with an 8-over par team score of 872. The Bears shot 2-under during the final round to finish ahead of the Seminoles.

The 2024 field consists of Florida State, California, Colorado State, Georgia, Louisville, Maryland, NC State, New Mexico, SMU, Tennessee, UNLV, and Virginia.

Following a practice round on Friday, the teams will play 27 holes each over two days to determine the team and individual champions. Live scoring for the championship can be found on Golfstat.

Hodge, who has played in three NCAA Championship Finals and three ACC Championships, begins play in her final season as one of the top senior golfers in the nation. She is playing the best golf of her career, following a tie for fourth place finish at the Patriot All-American Invitational and a top-15 finish at the Orlando Women's Open during the semester break.

"Our team is super excited to get the spring season going," said Hodge as the team concluded practice in Tallahassee prior to leaving for Mexico. "With Mirabel eligible and Madison (Hewlett) healthy again, the team finally feels strong and complete. We're ready to show everyone what this team and Florida State golf is all about."

Heath, the most experienced of the Seminoles competing in the event with 32 events and 95 rounds on her collegiate resume, will play in the tournament for the second time. She carded scores of 70-74-72 and finished with an even par score of 216 at Guadalajara in 2023.

"I'm excited to start playing," said Heath. "I've had a good off season, so I'm looking forward to finally putting my work into play."

Bond, who has led the Seminoles to a pair of top-five team finishes at the Collegiate Invitational, may be the most excited of the Seminoles to get Spring 2024 off to a strong start.

"I can't remember when I've been this fired up to start a season," said Bond who is the winningest women's golf coach in school history. "I am confident in the girls, and maybe more importantly, the girls are confident in each other."
