FSU Falls at No. 10 Notre Dame

In their final road game of the season, the Seminoles faced their third top-15 opponent of the year and their second top-10 foe on the road in the last three weeks. FSU and ND met for the first time since 2021, and it was Florida State's first trip to Notre Dame Stadium since 2020. The all-time series is now tied 6-6.
FSU (1-9) had 208 total yards of offense, 120 rushing and 88 passing. The Fighting Irish (8-1) had 453 total yards, 252 through the air and 201 on the ground.
Running back Lawrance Toafili led the team with 77 rushing yards on 16 carries, and he added a team-high three catches for 20 yards. Quarterbacks Brock Glenn and Luke Kromenhoek combined to go 10-for-26 for 88 yards with two interceptions.
Kicker Ryan Fitzgerald made a 23-yard field goal in the first quarter and improves to 11-for-11 on the season. It is the third time in school history a kicker has made at least 11 consecutive field goals to begin a campaign. Fitzgerald joins Roberto Aguayo, who did it twice, making his first 12 in 2013 and then 14 consecutive to begin 2014.
Fitzgerald's field goal was the 56th of his career, which moves him into sole possession of No. 7 on FSU's all-time list.
Defensively, the Seminoles had 53 total tackles, 6.0 for a loss with two sacks. They have recorded at least 5.0 tackles for loss in nine consecutive games, the team's longest stretch since a 12-game streak in 2013.
Defensive back Shyheim Brown paced the team with 5.0 total tackles and was one of five players with 3.0 solo tackles. Defensive back Kevin Knowles II was another with 3.0 solo tackles, and he recorded one of the team's two sacks.
It was a one-score game through the first quarter, with both the Seminoles and Fighting Irish scoring on their opening drives of the game.
After ND made it 7-0, FSU answered with a 16-play, 75-yard drive that took nearly eight minutes. Florida State converted twice on fourth down before Fitzgerald made it 7-3 with 5:22 left in the quarter.
Notre Dame was forced to punt on its next two drives before extending its lead to 14-3 less than 30 seconds into the second quarter. The home team punted again on its next drive and followed with a missed field goal before a touchdown late in the half, with 17 seconds left, made it 21-3.
In the second half, ND got an interception before adding to its lead. The touchdown with 9:38 left in the third quarter made it 28-3. FSU turned it over on downs at the Notre Dame 40-yard line on its next possession, and the defense proceeded to hold the Fighting Irish to a field goal that made it 31-3 in the final minute-plus of the third quarter.
In the fourth quarter, Notre Dame scored with 10:53 left and again with just over four minutes remaining. An interception returned for a touchdown was the final score with 1:23 left in the game.
FSU has its final bye week of the season next week before the season concludes with a pair of home games. First up is a matchup against Charleston Southern on Saturday, November 23, at Doak Campbell Stadium. A kickoff time and TV broadcast information has not been announced yet.
