Florida State Falls In Battle At College MatchDay

ORLANDO– The Florida State women's tennis team (2-2) fell 4-2 against No. 8 Florida (4-0) during College Matchday at the USTA National Campus.
The Gators kicked off the match by taking a 1-0 lead after winning at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. Kristyna Lavickova and Anna Arkadianou kept their match close before the doubles point was secured.
Senior Ellie Schoppe earned a 7-5, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles over the 23rd-ranked Emily De Oliveira to tie the match 1-1.
Florida responded with a win at No. 4 and No. 3 singles to make the match 3-1.
The Seminoles continued to battle and won three out of the six second Sets. Freshman Laura Putz won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 6 singles to cut the lead to 3-2.
The Gators earned a victory at No.1 singles to clinch the match.
Despite the loss, the Seminoles battled hard throughout the day. Millie Bissett was ahead 5-0 in her third set before the match was clinched.
The Seminoles returns to action next Saturday against UAB and Georgia State at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center. Live stats and video will be available on Seminoles.com.
