FSU Hosts Sunday Doubleheader

TALLAHASSEE – The Florida State women's tennis team hosts Mercer and FAMU for a doubleheader Sunday.
Florida State is 5-4 on the season and is coming off a monumental 6-1 win over No. 14 Duke at home last Sunday.
The nation's 55th-ranked singles player Ellie Schoppe is the reigning ACC Player of the Week after earning three wins on the weekend. Schoppe kicked off the weekend with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 win over the 14th-ranked Carson Tanguilig of No. 8 UNC at No. 2 singles. Schoppe finished the weekend with a 7-6 (4) win at No. 2 doubles with Kristyna Lavickova and a 6-2, 7-5 win at No. 2 singles over the 80th-ranked Shavit Kimchi of Duke.
Graduate student Vic Allen is ranked No. 52 in the national singles rankings and has four singles victories in 2024. Allen recently defeated Emma Jackson of Duke 6-1, 7-5 at No. 1 singles to close the match against the Blue Devils.
Senior Anna Arkadianou has eight total wins this spring, which includes a 3-0 record at No. 2 singles. Arkadianou came up clutch against Duke as she won 7-6 (1) win at No. 1 doubles with Allen to secure the doubles point and won 6-1, 6-1 over the 76th-ranked Katie Codd at No. 3 singles.
Mercer is 6-3 on the season and faces Troy this Saturday. The Bears are coming off a 7-0 win against Georgia College and are led by graduate student Lea Falentin, who is 6-1 in singles this spring.
FAMU enters this weekend with a 4-6 overall record and faces UNF this Friday. The Rattlers are led by junior Sara Rakim, who recently earned her fifth straight SWAC Player of the Week recognition. Rakim has accumulated seven singles victories this spring.
Sunday's matches are scheduled to begin at 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center. Admission is free. Live stats and video will be available on Seminoles.com.
