Noles Extend Win Streak to 18 Games

TALLAHASSEE – Cam Smith and James Tibbs combined to hit 6-for-8 with four runs and three RBI in Florida State's 8-4 win over Notre Dame Friday night at Dick Howser Stadium. Florida State improved to 16-0 on the season and 1-0 in the ACC; FSU's 18-game win streak dating to last season is tied for the 10th-longest in program history.

Smith was 3-for-3 with a double and his fifth home run of the season. He tied a season-high with three runs and is now hitting .507 on the year.

Tibbs added three hits and two RBI against the Fighting Irish.

Marco Dinges hit a two-run home run in the first inning to put FSU ahead 5-1 through one inning. Cam Leiter improved to 4-0 for FSU with 6.2 innings pitched and 10 strikeouts, the longest outing for a Seminole this year and one out shy of his career long.

Leading 6-4 in the sixth inning, Brennen Oxford entered with the bases loaded and induced an inning-ending pop fly. Noah Short pitched the final 1.1 innings for his first save of the season and third of his career.

  • The Noles current 18-game win streak is tied for the 10th-longest in school history and longest since the 23-game stretch to begin the 2007 season.
  • FSU has scored at least seven runs in 16 consecutive games, a school record. The previous high was 12 straight games in March 1986 and March 1996.
  • Cam Smith singled in his second plate appearance, extending his hitting streak to 20 games. That matches Jaime Ferrer in 2023 for the longest by a Seminole since 2011 and is tied for the 17th-longest in program history.
  • Smith extended his on-base streak to 26 games, the longest for any active Seminole in their career. He was hit by a pitch in the first inning and leads FSU with four after not getting plunked once as a freshman.
  • Smith was 3-for-3 and has multiple hits in 11 of 16 games. He entered the weekend leading the nation with 2.2 hits per game.
  • James Tibbs III was 3-for-5 to extend his hitting streak to five games and his on-base streak to a career-high 22 games. At least one Seminole has three hits in all 16 games this year.
  • Marco Dinges hit his fourth home run. He has a 10-game hitting streak, second-longest on the team this season.
  • Second baseman Drew Faurot hit a double in his first plate appearance and is hitting .406. He has 12 on the season and entered the weekend second in the country in doubles. Faurot improved to 5-for-5 on stolen bases and FSU is 27-for-28 on the year.
  • Notre Dame had an error in the fifth inning. FSU opponents have had at least one error in every game this season.
  • Florida State's five runs in the first inning matched a season high for the first frame (USF, 2/27).
  • Florida State has hit a home run in 11 consecutive games, the longest stretch since a 12-game run in March 2022.
