TALLAHASSEE – No. 12 Florida State (19-0) defeated Stetson (13-9) in the midweek pitchers' duel with a 1-0 win on Tuesday evening at Dick Howser Stadium. James Tibbs III's sacrifice fly to deep center sent Max Williams home for the game winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Florida State last earned a 1-0 win in Omaha at the 2019 College World Series against Arkansas in the first game of the tournament. Nander De Sedas hit a sacrifice fly into right in the top of the ninth to score Carter Smith for the game's lone run.
The Seminoles pitching staff combined for 12 strikeouts and only gave up two hits on the night for the first time since February 24, 2023 at No. 8 TCU. All seven pitchers recorded a strikeout.
John Abraham earned his first collegiate win of his career off of his most complete outing, sending two batters down on strikes before working through the eighth inning to set the save up for Carson Dorsey, his second in as many appearances.
Hudson Rowan pitched a career-high 2.0 innings and gave up no hits in his sixth relief outing of the season. The freshman also sat down four batters to set a new best for the left-hander.
One of the nation's leaders in doubles added to his tally as Drew Faurot crushed an early double into left field. This marked his 13th double of the season, one away from taking joint possession of the lead.
