Smith Stays Hot in 15-7 Win

3/9/2024 10:07:00 PM | Baseball

TALLAHASSEE – Cam Smith was 3-for-4 with a three-run home run in Florida State's 15-7 win over New Orleans Saturday night at Dick Howser Stadium. Smith is now hitting .508 (30-for-59) with four home runs for the undefeated Seminoles (13-0).

Jaime Ferrer added a solo home run, his fourth consecutive game with a homer. FSU has scored at least seven runs in all 13 games this season and is one of two remaining undefeated teams in Division I.

With rain pushing the start back four hours, Florida State used a collection of arms in the victory. Andrew Armstrong improved to 2-0 with 2.0 scoreless innings in his third career start.

FSU led 7-0 after the second inning before the Privateers closed the lead to 7-6 in the top of the sixth inning. FSU pushed two runs across in the bottom of the frame before adding six in the seventh inning, capped by Smith's 410-foot home run over the right field fence. Smith has seven three-hit games this season, and FSU has had at least one player with three hits in all 13 games.
