Dinges Leads Noles Past North Florida

TALLAHASSEE – No. 10-ranked Florida State improved to 32-8 on the season with a 10-2 win over North Florida Tuesday night at Dick Howser Stadium.
The Seminoles scored 10 consecutive runs after North Florida hit a solo home run, highlighted by Marco Dinges' grand slam in the third inning. Dinges has 10 home runs and three of FSU's school-record nine grand slams this year.
John Abraham entered in relief of Matt Sauser in the third inning, allowing one hit with four strikeouts over 35 pitches for his second win of the season.
James Tibbs was 2-for-3 with a solo home run, his 17th of the year. Cam Smith doubled and scored on a slide at home plate after a Tibbs single; Smith has reached safely in 50 consecutive games, tied for the 10th-longest streak in program history.
Tibbs' 44 career home runs are also 10th in program history.

- Marco Dinges hit a grand slam in the third inning, his third of the season and FSU's ninth grand slam of the year, a school record. Dinges has 10 home runs in his first season in Tallahassee.
- The previous record for grand slams at FSU was eight in 1996. Quincy Nieporte is FSU's single-season grand slam leader, with four in 2017. J.D. Drew (1996), Jeremy Morris (1996), Dennis Guinn (2006), Buster Posey (2008) and Seth Miller (2012) also had three in a season.
- Dinges added an RBI single in the third inning and tied a career high with five RBI. He has reached safely in 13 consecutive games, a career best.
- Florida State has hit a home run in 15 consecutive games, the third-longest streak in program history. The Noles have at least one home run in 36 of 40 games in 2024. FSU also had a 13-game home run streak earlier this season, the fourth-longest streak in school history.
- James Tibbs was 2-for-3 with three RBI and his 17th home run, matching his sophomore total. Tibbs has 44 career home runs, tied with Stephen Drew for 10th in Florida State history.
- Tibbs leads the ACC with 64 RBI this season. He has 17 home runs against just 14 strikeouts.
- Cam Smith doubled and scored in the fourth inning, his 13th of the year. He leads FSU with 51 runs scored and has reached base in 50 consecutive games, tied with Shane Robinson (2005-06) for the 10th-longest streak in program history.
- Smith and Tibbs are both hitting .401 this season, the only Power 5 teammates hitting over .400 this year.
- Max Williams tripled, singled, walked twice and stole his third base of the season. He is now 3-for-3 on the basepaths and leads FSU with four triples.
- Florida State improved to 13-0 vs. teams from the state of Florida.
- Freshman pitcher Matt Sauser made his second career start.
- Outfielder Jaime Ferrer was not in the starting lineup for the first time in his career. Ferrer had started the 152 games of his career.
