TALLAHASSEE – No. 13 Florida State (24-4) defeated Bethune Cookman (15-13) with a 5-3 win Tuesday evening in Dick Howser Stadium. Two home runs in the fifth inning carried the Seminoles, leaving them undefeated in midweek games this season.
James Tibbs III and Max Williams each singled in the third and hit a home run in the fifth inning. Tibbs' two-run shot was his third consecutive game with a home run and Williams' two RBIs tied his career high. Ferrer hit his third triple of the year, tied for first on the team and 21st nationally.
Five arms threw for the Seminoles during their ninth game in 13 days. Yoel Tejeda Jr. (1-0) earned his first win of the season, throwing a season-high 3.0 innings and striking out a career-high four batters. Connor Hults finished the game with a career-high 2.0 innings pitched and four strikeouts to earn his first career save.

- James Tibbs III continued his torrid three-game stretch, finishing 2-for-3 with his 13th home run of the season. Over FSU's past three games, Tibbs is hitting 9-for-11 with four runs, a double, seven RBI and a home run in each game.
- Tibbs has 40 career home runs, tied with Mike Yastrzemski (1980-83) for 14th in FSU history.
- Max Williams opened the fifth inning with his third home run of the season. He matched a career-high with two RBI.
- Jaime Ferrer tripled to start the second inning, his third of the season and sixth of his career. Ferrer's three triples are tied with Max Williams for the team lead and his six career triples are most among active Noles.
- Ferrer's triple extended his on-base streak to 34 games. He was also hit by a pitch for the ninth time this year, most on the team. His 38 career HBP are eighth in FSU history.
- Cam Smith drew a walk prior to Tibbs' home run, pushing his on-base streak to 38 games.
- Senior pitcher Brennen Oxford made his third consecutive appearance. He leads FSU with 13 on the season.
- Jordan Williams, DeAmez Ross and Tibbs stole bases; Williams leads FSU with nine stolen bases. Ross (7/7) and Tibbs (5/5) are also perfect on the year. As a team, FSU is 39-for-41 on the basepaths; last year, FSU stole just 31 bases in 54 games.
- Florida State improved to 24-4 on the season; last year, FSU won just 23 games.
- Marco Dinges made his first career start as a Seminole at catcher. Freshman pitcher John Abraham made his first career start.
- Yoel Tejeda Jr. earned his first win as a Seminole, pitching 3.0 scoreless innings. Tejeda tied his career-high strikeouts with four; Connor Hults earned his first career save and set a career high with four strikeouts.
