Five-Run Seventh Leads Noles to Series Win at BC

4/7/2024 3:02:00 PM | Baseball

BRIGHTON, Mass. – Florida State scored five runs in the seventh inning to defeat Boston College, 9-2, Sunday afternoon at the Harrington Athletics Village. FSU improved to 26-5 and has won three of four ACC series on the season; the Eagles fell to 17-13 and 6-9 in the conference.

James Tibbs III hit a pair of bases-loaded doubles, finishing 2-for-5 with five RBI in the contest. Over his six-game hitting streak, Tibbs is hitting 15-for-25 with five doubles, three home runs and 14 RBI.

Carson Dorsey started for the Seminoles, allowing one run on one hit with three strikeouts over 5.0 innings. After Boston College hit a double to begin the game, Dorsey did not allow another hit as BC took a 1-0 lead in the first.

FSU hit three singles in the fifth inning, capped by Alex Lodise's game-tying single. Boston College re-took the lead on a bases loaded hit by pitch in the sixth, one of four Eagles' batters plunked by FSU pitching.

Freshman Cal Fisher tied the game with a solo home run in the seventh inning, his third of the year. The Noles took the lead later in the frame when Cam Smith drew a bases loaded walk and James Tibbs followed with a double to center field to score two more runs.

Tibbs' three-run double in the eighth inning was again hit to the outfield wall, bouncing off the top just inches from his third grand slam of the year.

Brennen Oxford earned his first win of the year with 3.1 scoreless innings out of the bullpen.
