Vear, Young Close Out U.S. Olympic Trials

TALLAHASSEE –   Samantha Vear and Katrina Young brought the U.S. Olympic Diving Trials to a close by competing in individual event finals at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center.
 
Vear finished 10th in 3-meter springboard, while Young was fifth on 10-meter platform.
 
Vear started her first Olympic Trials by finishing 15th in prelims (223.25) after five dives. In semifinals, Vear improved her score, finishing 11th at 262.95, moving on to the final.
 
With scores carrying over, Vear climbed one spot to place 10th at 531.90.
 
Young finished third in prelims on platform (284.20) and was fourth (270.40) after semifinals. In finals, Young finished fifth (548.50).
 
In swimming, Mason Herbet was the final competitor for the Noles in Indianapolis, touching 24th in the 100-meter fly at 52.98, just off his best (52.90).
 
Wilson Brings Home Three Golds at XXXVI CCCAN Championships
Representing the U.S. Virgin Islands, Max Wilson brought home two golds at the Central American and Caribbean Amateur Swimming Confederation in Monterrey, Mexico.
 
Wilson won the men's 100 back (55.15) and 50 back (25.54), both in national record timing.
 
Three Noles Compete at Sette Colli Trophy
Tommaso Baravelli, Max McCusker and Tania Quaglieri competed at the 2024 Sete Colli Trophy that ran from June 21-23 at the Foro Italico Swimming Stadium.
 
Days after competing at the European Aquatics Championships for Ireland, McCusker swam the 100 fly, placing seventh at 52.62 after turning in the second-fastest time in prelims at 52.38.
 
Baravelli swam in the 'C' final of the 100 breast, touching seventh in the heat at 1:02.71 after posting a 1:02.42 in prelims. He also swam the 50 breast (28.93) and 200 breast (2:16.63).
 
Quaglieri competed in the 50 back (29.32) where she placed 17th in addition to the 100 back (1:03.92) and 50 fly (27.29).
