TALLAHASSEE – Alice Hodge, who earned her degree in finance from Florida State in May of 2024, became the fifth player in school history to be named to the WCGA All-American Scholar Team for the fourth time in her career when the most prestigious academic team in sport of women's golf was announced by the WGCA. Hodge was named to the team along with teammates Katherine Cook, Mirabel Ting, Kaylah Williams, and Lottie Woad.
It marks the fifth consecutive year, and seventh time in the last eight years, that at least three Seminoles have been named scholar All-Americans by the WGCA. Florida State's five selections marked the 11th consecutive year at least one Seminole golfer has been named as a national academic standout.
Hodge joins Whitney Brummett (2005, 06, 07, 08), Kim Metraux (2015, 16, 17, 18), Morgane Metraux (2015, 16, 17, 18) and Amanda Doherty (2017, 18, 19, 20) as the only players in school history who have been named to the WGCA Scholar-Athlete team four times during careers as Seminoles.
Hodge's academic record illustrates how successful she was during her career as a Seminole. She earned Florida State Academic Dean's List honors four times, President's List honors four times, earned her bachelor's degree on May 3, was named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll and the WGCA Scholar Athlete team four times each, named a College Sports' Communicator Academic All District honoree in 2023, and earned the 2022 Golden Torch Award for Academics as presented by the Florida State Department of Athletics.
"Academic success is part of this teams' DNA," said Hodge. "We don't have to push each other, or try to out-perform each other, it's just what we do. It's what we do, and it's contagious. Our team has always been one for all and all for one. We work hard so each of our teammates can be successful on the course, and we work hard for each other to be successful on the classroom.
"In addition to Hodge (finance) earning Scholar-Athlete status for the for the fourth consecutive year, Florida State's pair of All-Americans – Lottie Woad and Mirabel Ting – were both named to the WGCA's most prestigious team for the second season. Woad (sport management) was an All-American Scholar as a Seminole in 2023 while Ting (interior design) was an All-American Scholar at Augusta University in 2023 before transferring to Florida State to begin the 2023-24 season.
Williams (psychology) who played in both the ACC and NCAA Las Vegas Regional Championships in 2024, was also named to the team for the second time. Cook (hospitality and tourism management) played in a career-high five events during the spring of 2024 including her first career ACC Championship. her first career NCAA Regional Championship and her first career NCAA Championship Finals event.
"The WGCA Scholar-Athlete team is my most favorite team announcement of the awards season," said Head Coach Amy Bond. "It's the perfect combination of academic and golf success – it's where the two worlds come together. Academics is as the cornerstone of our program, and we are excited to have five of our players named to this team."
Bond, who was named to the WCGA Scholar Athlete Team in 1998, has coached 35 members of the team including 13 in the last three seasons.
