TALLAHASSEE – The No. 15 Florida State men's tennis team swept Florida 4-0 in front of a packed-out Scott Speicher Memorial Tennis Center on Friday night. The Seminoles have swept Florida in back-to-back seasons.

FSU had enjoyed a seven-match unbeaten streak in doubles play and carried those performances into the rivalry match. Jan Sebesta and Jamie Connel came out strong, quickly going up a break before riding out a 6-2 victory on Court 3. The pair are 3-0 in their four doubles appearances this spring.

Erik Schiessl and Joshua Dous-Karpenschif dug deep as they traded games back-and-forth at 4-4 before a break point allowed them to serve out the doubles point. The duo have won four constructive matches and are undefeated on Court 2 this season.

The Seminoles used the early momentum to great advantage, winning five of the six opening sets in singles play. Dous-Karpenschif used his white-hot form to win the first set 6-1 before replicating the same score to secure the second team point on Court 5. The Lyon, France, native won his fifth match of the spring after two unfinished matches in the ITA Kickoff Weekend.

Azariah Rusher made his debut appearance in the rivalry match and worked through the first frame 6-3 before finding his rhythm and clinching his singles victory with a commanding 6-1 second set. The sophomore rebounded from his lone loss of the season to seal his fifth win in 2025.

Connel controlled his match from start to finish with two 6-2 sets and notched the final point of the match for the statement rivalry win. The No. 22 player in the nation leads the team with six dual match wins and several notable wins on Courts 1 and 2 in the early season.

The Seminoles will conclude their nine-match homestand with a ranked battle against No. 20 Alabama on Saturday, February 8. Live video and stats will be available on Seminoles.com
