Double-Double By Ewin Leads Seminoles Over Miami, 80-65

MIAMIMalique Ewin totaled his third career double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds, the Seminoles closed the game on a 30-7 run, and defeated Miami, 80-65, at the Watsco Center. Ewin totaled 12 second half points and totaled four second half rebounds as Florida State won its second consecutive ACC game and earned its first ACC road win of the season.

The Seminoles improved to 11-4 and 2-2 in the ACC. Miami fell to 4-11 and 0-4 in ACC play.

Ewin led three Seminoles in double-figure scoring with his 20 points. Also in double figures were Taylor Bol Bowen with 16, and Jamir Watkins with 10. Both Ewin and Watkins have now scored in double figures in 12 consecutive games – each game since November 15.

Bol Bowen was spectacular from 3-point range as he made all four of his attempts from long range. He added six rebounds and three assists.

Daquan Davis, in the third ACC start of his career, totaled a career-high 10 assists. He also scored nine points and added three rebounds. Davis' night included 10 assists and only one turnover in 25 minutes of playing time.

The 10 assists by Davis allowed the Seminoles to earn a season-high 26 assists on 32 baskets made
 
At the 14:34 mark of the first half, Jamir Watkins hit a three-pointer to give the Seminoles their first lead of the game at 9-7. The Seminoles took the lead for good on two free throws by Jerry Deng at the 10:52 mark of the first half – a lead the Seminoles would not relinquish after the point in the game.
 
Florida State led 39-25 at halftime, and outscored the Hurricanes by a 41-40 margin in the second half.
 
Justin Thomas led the team with three steals and added four assists, six points, two rebounds, and one blocked shot. Chandler Jackson anchored the Seminoles' defense with a career-high three blocked shots and two steals.
 
For Miami, Matthew Cleveland led the way with 16 points, while Paul Djobet added 13 points.
 
The Seminoles out-rebounded the Hurricanes by a 39-25 margin, shot 50 percent for the game (32 of 64), made 10 3-point field goals, earned eight steals and blocked seven shots.

Florida State looks to carry this momentum into its next matchup when FSU travels to South Carolina to take on Clemson on Saturday, January 11, at 2 PM at Littlejohn Coliseum.
