TALLAHASSEE – Student-athletes Erik Schiessl and Luis Felipe Miguel will begin play in the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championship hosted by UCF from November 18-23 at the USTA National Campus
The NCAA Division I Singles and Doubles Championships is the final stop for athletes individually. The championships follow a single-elimination format in both singles and doubles. In the singles bracket, athletes play the best-of-three sets; doubles pairs compete in a one-set match, but the winner must win by at least two games.
Tournament action begins with the first round of singles on Tuesday morning as Miguel opens his first career appearance in the championships. The field consists of 64 total players, each earning qualifications through various fall ITA events. Each draw will advance one round per day, culminating in the crowning of champions on Sunday, November 23.
Miguel enters Tuesday's match with a 5–2 singles record and a five-match win streak, including a three-set win over South Florida's Guglielmo Verdese at the ITA Regional Championships. In doubles, Miguel and Schiessl hold a 6–1 record. Their biggest result came in a 6–3, 7–5 upset over Clemson's pair at the ITA Sectionals, Romain Gales and Viktor Markov, which secured their spot in the NCAA Championships.
Streaming and live result information will be available on Seminoles.com later this evening.
