Shaw Set to Make NCAA Debut

TALLAHASSEE -Â Eva Shaw will make her NCAA Tournament debut Tuesday at the NCAA Singles Championships at the USTA National Campus in Orlando.
Shaw, a junior, qualified for the championships after tying for fifth at the ITA South Sectional Championships in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Shaw becomes the first Seminole to qualify for the NCAA Singles Championships since the tournament moved to the fall season. Victoria Allen and Ellie Schoppe were the last Seminoles to qualify for the tournament in May 2024.Â
Shaw will face Louise Wikander of Denver in the Round of 64, with first serve set for 4:30 p.m. Wikander is 9-3 this season, qualifying for the championships by winning the ITA Mountain Regional singles title.
Shaw has four wins this fall, with the biggest coming at the ITA South Sectional Championships, where she knocked off No. 69-ranked Raquel Gonzalez of Miami 6-4, 2-6, 7-5 to advance to the quarterfinals.Â
