Seminoles Host No. 15 North Carolina and Duke This Weekend

TALLAHASSEE - The Florida State volleyball team (14-11, 8-8) will play host to No. 15 North Carolina (20-5, 13-3) on Friday night and Duke (5-22, 2-14). Friday's match will begin at 6:30 p.m. and Sunday's match will begin at 1 p.m. Both matches can be seen on ACCNX. Friday night will be the annual Poole Party. Fans will receive sunglasses and leis while supplies last. Students will also receive special concession special and will be entered into a raffle to receive select prizes.

Seminoles Host No. 15 UNC and Duke in Final Full Weekend of Regular Season
- The Seminoles are looking to finish the season strong with a couple of big opportunities at Tully Gym as they host No. 15 North Carolina on Friday and Duke on Sunday.
- The Tar Heels are having one of their best seasons in recent memory as they boast a 20-5 record with a 13-3 record in ACC play. North Carolina has ranked wins over Florida and SMU.
- Duke is 5-22 this season and 2-14 in ACC play and have lost 10 consecutive matches.
Last Time Out
- The Noles fought tooth and nail at Notre Dame on Sunday afternoon and came out with a five-set win over the Fighting Irish.
- Kyleene Filimaua did a little bit of everything against Notre Dame as she recorded 19 kills, five aces, 13 digs and three blocks.
- Iane Henke also recorded 19 kills against the Fighting Irish while Nenu Kpea shined with nine kills and nine blocks.
Series History
- FSU leads the all-time series 47-26 against the Tar Heels and hold a 31-7 advantage against North Carolina at Tully Gym. The Noles have won five out of the last six matches against North Carolina.
- FSU trails the all-time series 27-37 against Duke, but the Noles have won 12 consecutive matches against the Blue Devils.
Henke Putting Together One of the Best Seasons in Program History
- Iane Henke was looking to take a big step in her second year with the Garnet and Gold and has done that and much more in her senior season with the Noles.
- Henke is second on the team with 351 kills but is third in the ACC in kills per set (4.39) and points per set (5.04).
- Henke's 5.04 points per set is 17th in the entire country and is also 25th in the country in kills per set (4.39).
- Henke missed five matches from Oct. 3-16 due to a lower body injury. The Noles were 1-4 with Henke out and are 13-7 when Henke plays.
- Henke recorded 20 or more kills in four consecutive matches against Clemson, Georgia Tech, Cal and Virginia. Henke is the first player in program history to have 20 or more kills in four consecutive matches in the rally scoring era.
- Henke had 21 kills in a three-set loss against Georgia Tech. Henke is one of two players in the ACC to record 20 or more kills in a three-set match this season.
- Against Cal, Henke had a career-high 27 kills which is the eighth-most kills in a match by an ACC player. Henke was also the first Nole to record over 30 points in a match since Payton Caffrey on November 4, 2018, against Louisville.
- In the four matches against North Florida, USF, South Carolina and Oklahoma, Henke tallied 15 or more kills in all four of those matches while hitting over .300 in all those matches. Henke is the first FSU player since Norisha Campbell in 2001 to accomplish that feat.
- Henke has recorded 15 or more kills in 17 out of the 20 matches she's played in this season.
- Henke has recorded double digit kills in 19 consecutive matches.
- Henke has recorded 22 service aces so far this season after recording just five aces all of last season.
- Against UIC, Henke had seven service aces which was tied for the fourth-most in FSU history. Henke joined Audrey Koenig as the only two FSU players to record seven or more aces in the past 20 seasons.
- Henke's seven aces are tied for the third-most in a three-set match of any player in the country this season.
- Henke was the 2022 Division II AVCA National Freshman of the Year at Cal State LA.
Filimaua a Reliable Force for the Noles
- Filimaua is FSU's most experienced and productive returner as a three-year starter in her junior season.
- In her first full season as an outside hitter, Filimaua leads the team with 382 kills to go along with 225 digs and 38 service aces.
- Filimaua has recorded double digit kills in her last 14 matches and in 21 out of the last 24 matches.
- Filimaua ranks sixth in the ACC with 4.38 points per set and is currently on pace to finish in the top 10 in program history for points per set in a season.
- Filimaua has recorded 11 double doubles this season including back-to-back matches with a double double.
- In 2024, Filimaua did a little bit of everything as she recorded 173 kills, 66 assists, 27 aces, 267 digs and 23 blocks. Filimaua filled in at libero during the middle of the season last year but returned to her main position as an outside hitter in 2025.
Kpea Impressing in Her Freshman Season
- Nenu Kpea has had a great start to her career in the Garnet and Gold and has taken her play to the next level.
- Kpea has played in all 101 sets for FSU and leads the team with 101 blocks and 1.00 blocks per set.
- Kpea has recorded 171 kills and is hitting .286.
Ewing Giving the Noles Great Production
- Delaney Ewing has been a great addition for the Noles in the middle.
- Ewing has played in 98 out of the 101 sets and leads the team with 99 blocks to go along with 122 kills.
- Ewing had her best match with the Garnet and Gold as she recorded a season-best 10 kills and eight blocks at NC State.
- Against UIC, Ewing had seven kills on seven swings in the Noles' sweep over the Flames.
- Ewing comes from the University of San Francisco where she recorded 155 kills and 83 blocks in her freshman season.
Former Sun Belt Libero of the Year Mio Yamamoto Leading the Noles Defensively
- The Noles made a big splash in the transfer portal in picking up 2023 Sun Belt Libero of the Year Mio Yamamoto from Louisiana.
- Yamamoto leads the team with 339 digs and has also added 27 aces. Yamamoto recorded a career-high six service aces against Virginia on Oct. 24.
- Yamamoto has recorded double digit digs in 20 out of the 25 matches this season and had a season-high 25 digs at NC State on Oct. 5.
- Yamamoto was a two-time All-Sun Belt First Team selection in her two seasons in Lafayette.
- Yamamoto ranked in the top 25 in the country in digs per set and recorded 13 matches with 20 or more digs in 2024.
- Yamamoto has the most career digs of anyone on FSU's roster.
Nicholson and Stevenson Leading FSU's Offense
- FSU brought in a couple of transfers from the portal to lead the offense for the 2025 season.
- Lily Nicholson comes from TCU where she played in 112 out of the 113 sets for the Horned Frogs last season.
- Nicholson leads the team with 498 assists while recording 215 digs.
- Nicholson became just the eighth player in TCU history to record 1,000 assists with her 1,108 assists in her sophomore campaign.
- She averaged 9.89 assists per set which ranked fifth in the Big 12 and 60th nationally.
- She helped the Horned Frogs record a .252 hitting percentage over the course of the season which was tied for the second-best mark in school history.
- Stevenson comes from Montana State where she started two seasons for the Bobcats.
- Stevenson is second on the team with 492 assists while also tallying 196 digs.
- Stevenson has recorded a double double in four out of her last five matches.
- Stevenson recorded over 1,000 assists in 2023 and added 664 assists in 2024.
- Stevenson tallied 68 service aces in her two seasons in Bozeman.
