Seminoles Wrap Up Regular Season with No. 8 SMU and Clemson

TALLAHASSEE - The Florida State volleyball team (16-11, 10-8) wraps up its regular season with a road match at No. 8 SMU (23-5, 15-3) on Wednesday before returning home to face Clemson (16-14, 4-14) on Friday. Both matches will begin at 2 p.m. and can be seen live on ACCNX. 

Seminoles Battling for NCAA Tournament Berth in Final Week of the Season 
  • The Seminoles are looking build up their NCAA Tournament resume this week and find their way into the Tournament for the 16th time in the last 17 seasons. FSU is currently 57th in the RPI. 
  • The Noles will have a huge RPI opportunity on Wednesday afternoon as they face No. 8 SMU in Dallas. The Mustangs are 23-5 and 15-3 in ACC play. SMU has won seven-straight matches. SMU is ranked No. 8 in the RPI. 
  • FSU and SMU met on Oct. 10 in Tallahassee where the Mustangs came out on top in four sets. FSU was without kills per set leader Iane Henke in the match. 
  • The Noles will return home on Friday to take on Clemson. The Tigers are 16-14 and 4-14 in ACC play. 
  • FSU defeated Clemson in four sets on Sept. 26 in Clemson. Iane Henke led the way with 20 kills while Kyleene Filimaua added 17 kills. 
                                                
Last Time Out
  • The Noles picked up its first signature win of the season as the Noles took down No. 15 North Carolina in four sets on Friday night. Iane Henke was terrific as the senior tallied 23 kills while hitting .400 to go along with 15 digs and five blocks. 
  • The Noles took down Duke on Sunday in four sets as Henke once again led the way with 16 kills. 
                                                
Series history
  • FSU will be looking for its first win against the Mustangs in five chances. All four matches have taken place since 2022. 
  • FSU leads the all-time series 44-20 against Clemson and have won 20 consecutive matches against the Tigers. FSU has not lost to Clemson since 2010. 
                                                
Noles to Honor Three Seniors on Friday
  • FSU will be honoring three seniors on Friday afternoon in Iane Henke, Nellie Stevenson and Mio Yamamoto prior to the match on Friday. 
  • All three players have played significant roles for the Noles this season. Stevenson and Yamamoto have played in every match this season while Henke played in all but five matches. Henke is going to end the year in top 10 in kills per set and points per set for a season in FSU history. 
                                                
Henke Putting Together One of the Best Seasons in Program History
  • Iane Henke was looking to take a big step in her second year with the Garnet and Gold and has done that and much more in her senior season with the Noles. 
  • Henke is second on the team with 390 kills but is fourth in the ACC in kills per set (4.43) and points per set (5.10).
  • Henke's 5.10 points per set is 15th in the entire country and is also 25th in the country in kills per set (4.39). 
  • Henke missed five matches from Oct. 3-16 due to a lower body injury. The Noles were 1-4 with Henke out and are 13-7 when Henke plays. 
  • Henke recorded 20 or more kills in four consecutive matches against Clemson, Georgia Tech, Cal and Virginia. Henke is the first player in program history to have 20 or more kills in four consecutive matches in the rally scoring era.
  • Henke had 21 kills in a three-set loss against Georgia Tech. Henke is one of two players in the ACC to record 20 or more kills in a three-set match this season. 
  • Against Cal, Henke had a career-high 27 kills which is the eighth-most kills in a match by an ACC player. Henke was also the first Nole to record over 30 points in a match since Payton Caffrey on November 4, 2018, against Louisville. 
  • In the four matches against North Florida, USF, South Carolina and Oklahoma, Henke tallied 15 or more kills in all four of those matches while hitting over .300 in all those matches. Henke is the first FSU player since Norisha Campbell in 2001 to accomplish that feat. 
  • Henke has recorded 15 or more kills in 19 out of the 22 matches she's played in this season. 
  • Henke has recorded double digit kills in 21 consecutive matches. 
  • Henke has recorded 23 service aces so far this season after recording just five aces all of last season. 
  • Against UIC, Henke had seven service aces which was tied for the fourth-most in FSU history. Henke joined Audrey Koenig as the only two FSU players to record seven or more aces in the past 20 seasons.
  • Henke's seven aces are tied for the third-most in a three-set match of any player in the country this season.  
  • Henke was the 2022 Division II AVCA National Freshman of the Year at Cal State LA.
                                                                                         
Filimaua a Reliable Force for the Noles 
  • Filimaua is FSU's most experienced and productive returner as a three-year starter in her junior season. 
  • In her first full season as an outside hitter, Filimaua leads the team with 408 kills to go along with 251 digs and 41 service aces. 
  • Filimaua's 408 kills is ranked 13th all-time in school history in the rally scoring era. Filimaua needs just 11 kills to crack the top 10 and 51 kills to crack the top 5. 
  • Filimaua has recorded double digit kills in her last 16 matches and in 23 out of the last 26 matches. 
  • Filimaua ranks sixth in the ACC with 4.32 points per set and is currently on pace to finish in the top 10 in program history for points per set in a season. 
  • Filimaua has recorded 13 double doubles this season including double doubles in her last four matches.  
  • In 2024, Filimaua did a little bit of everything as she recorded 173 kills, 66 assists, 27 aces, 267 digs and 23 blocks. Filimaua filled in at libero during the middle of the season last year but returned to her main position as an outside hitter in 2025. 
                                                                
Kpea Impressing in her Freshman Season
  • Nenu Kpea has had a great start to her career in the Garnet and Gold and has taken her play to the next level. 
  • Kpea has played in all 109 sets for FSU and leads the team with 111 blocks and 1.02 blocks per set. 
  • Kpea has recorded 189 kills and is hitting .303.
  • Kpea is coming off a great match against Duke where she recorded 11 kills on 18 attempts to go along with six blocks. 
                                                            
Ewing Giving the Noles Great Production
  • Delaney Ewing has been a great addition for the Noles in the middle. 
  • Ewing has played in 106 out of the 109 sets and is second on the team with 108 blocks to go along with 135 kills. 
  • Ewing had her best match with the Garnet and Gold as she recorded a season-best 10 kills and eight blocks at NC State. 
  • Against UIC, Ewing had seven kills on seven swings in the Noles' sweep over the Flames. 
  • Ewing comes from the University of San Francisco where she recorded 155 kills and 83 blocks in her freshman season. 
                                                                
Former Sun Belt Libero of the Year Mio Yamamoto Leading the Noles Defensively
  • The Noles made a big splash in the transfer portal in picking up 2023 Sun Belt Libero of the Year Mio Yamamoto from Louisiana. 
  • Yamamoto leads the team with 367 digs and has also added 31 aces. Yamamoto recorded a career-high six service aces against Virginia on Oct. 24. 
  • Yamamoto has recorded double digit digs in 22 out of the 27 matches this season and had a season-high 25 digs at NC State on Oct. 5.
  • Yamamoto was a two-time All-Sun Belt First Team selection in her two seasons in Lafayette. 
  • Yamamoto ranked in the top 25 in the country in digs per set and recorded 13 matches with 20 or more digs in 2024. 
  • Yamamoto has the most career digs of anyone on FSU's roster.
                                                        
Nicholson and Stevenson Leading FSU's Offense
  • FSU brought in a couple of transfers from the portal to lead the offense for the 2025 season. 
  • Lily Nicholson comes from TCU where she played in 112 out of the 113 sets for the Horned Frogs last season. 
  • Nicholson leads the team with 548 assists while recording 239 digs. 
  • Nicholson has recorded a double double in three out of her last four matches. 
  • Nicholson became just the eighth player in TCU history to record 1,000 assists with her 1,108 assists in her sophomore campaign. 
  • She averaged 9.89 assists per set which ranked fifth in the Big 12 and 60th nationally. 
  • She helped the Horned Frogs record a .252 hitting percentage over the course of the season which was tied for the second-best mark in school history. 
  • Stevenson comes from Montana State where she started two seasons for the Bobcats. 
  • Stevenson is second on the team with 537 assists while also tallying 209 digs. 
  • Stevenson recorded over 1,000 assists in 2023 and added 664 assists in 2024. 
  • Stevenson tallied 68 service aces in her two seasons in Bozeman.
                                                             
Henke Drafted by Orlando Valkyries
  • Iane Henke was drafted by the defending MLV Champion Orlando Valkyries on Monday afternoon. 
  • Henke was drafted with the eighth pick in the third round and the 24th pick overall. 
  • Henke is set to become the third Nole in the MLV joining Taylor Head and 2024 MLV Rookie of the Year Khori Louis who both play for the Atlanta Vibe.
