No. 3 FSU Returns Home to Host NCAA Quarterfinal Friday

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 3-seeded Florida State soccer team will host Ohio State in the NCAA Quarterfinal on Friday, November 28, at 5 p.m. ET, at the Seminole Soccer Complex, with the winner advancing to the NCAA College Cup.
Tickets are on sale now at Seminoles.com/Tickets. A ticket will be required for all fans, and the first 100 students will receive free admission with a valid FSU ID. Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets online ahead of game time.

With four national championships and 14 College Cup appearances, Florida State is making its 26th NCAA Tournament appearance, every year since 2000, and playing in the Quarterfinal for the 19th time overall and the seventh time in the last eight years. The Seminoles are 86-19-6 (.802) all-time in the NCAA Tournament. That includes a 12-4-2 record in the Quarterfinal, 11-2-0 at home, 1-2-1 on the road and 0-0-1 at a neutral site with a 2-0 mark in penalty kicks. FSU's national titles (4), College Cup appearances (14), NCAA Tournament wins (86) and NCAA win percentage (.802) all are second-best among all D-I programs.
The Seminoles have won three in a row in the Quarterfinal and advanced to the College Cup in four consecutive games, with the last defeat in 2019. Florida State will host a Quarterfinal for the 14th time overall and the sixth time in the last seven Tournaments on campus sites, not including the 2020 postseason, contested in the spring of 2021 solely in Cary, North Carolina.
FSU is coming off a 3-1 road win at No. 2-seeded Georgetown in the Third Round on November 23. FSU began NCAA play with a 4-0 home victory against Samford before a 1-0 neutral-site win over Lipscomb. The win at Georgetown was the Seminoles' first true road NCAA win since 2008 and first in the Third Round since 2003, though the team hadn't played an NCAA road game since 2017 and just three of the 11 have come after 2008.
Unbeaten in its last seven games overall with a 15-4 scoring margin in its last six games, FSU is 13-2-4 on the season, 7-1-2 at home, 5-1-2 on the road, 1-0-0 at a neutral site, 3-2-1 against top-25 opponents and 3-0-1 in the postseason. The Seminoles finished fourth in the ACC with a 6-2-2 record. FSU played three of the four No. 1 seeds in this year's NCAA Tournament in ACC play, going 1-2-1 against those three squads.

Junior forward Jordynn Dudley leads the team with 31 points, 13 assists and 67 shots and is second with nine goals and 26 shots on goal. She had a point in 13 consecutive games with multiple points in four of the last five matches to conclude the regular season. Sophomore forward Wrianna Hudson paces the team with 12 goals and 33 shots on goal and is second with 25 points. In goal, freshman Kate Ockene has made 16 saves in her 11 appearances for a .696 save percentage and a 0.79 goals-against average.
In the national rankings, FSU is No. 6 in the country in goals per game (2.68) and goal differential (+37), No. 7 in assists per game (2.84) and points per game (8.21), No. 9 in shots per game (18.42) and shots on goal per game (8.21), No. 13 in shutout percentage (.579), No. 16 in corner kicks per game (6.79) and No. 25 in goals-against average (0.733).
Individually, Dudley is third in the NCAA in assists per game (0.68), fifth in total assists (13), 22nd in points per game (1.63) and 27th in total points (31). Hudson ranks No. 8 in shot accuracy (.647) and No. 29 in goals per game (0.63) and total goals (12).
In the final regular-season poll, Florida State remained at No. 6 in the United Soccer Coaches top-25, released on November 4. The Seminoles also moved up to fifth in this week's Top Drawer Soccer poll.
SERIES HISTORY VS. OHIO STATE
Florida State is 0-1-0 all-time against Ohio State, with the lone meeting a 2-1 loss on September 3, 2000, in Columbia, Missouri. The contest was the second-to-last non-conference game of the year on the Seminoles' way to their first NCAA appearance.
FSU is 6-5-1 all-time against current Big Ten opponents in the NCAA Tournament. The most recent matchup, in either the regular-season or postseason, was a 1-0 victory over Rutgers in the 2021 National Semifinal, one win before the Seminoles claimed their third of four NCAA titles. Florida State got to that 2021 College Cup with a 1-0 victory over Michigan in Tallahassee in the Quarterfinal, the last Big Ten foe to visit the Seminole Soccer Complex.

Ohio State is 11-4-6 on the season, 2-1-4 at home, 8-2-2 on the road and 1-1 at a neutral site. The Buckeyes went 4-2-5 in the Big Ten and finished in a four-way tie for sixth place. OSU has won three in a row in the NCAA Tournament, all away from home. The run began with a 2-0 First Round victory at eighth-seeded Georgia before a 1-0, double-overtime win at top-seeded Notre Dame. The Buckeyes are coming off a 2-1 triumph over No. 5-seed Baylor in South Bend, Indiana, on November 23.

The win came in the Seminoles' first true road game of the postseason.
Junior defender Mimi Van Zanten scored Florida State's first goal five minutes before halftime as part of her first career three-point game. Freshman midfielder Nyanya Touray made it 2-0 just 94 seconds into the second half with the eventual game-winner. After GU cut the lead in half at 2-1 in the 58th minute, freshman defender Jaida McGrew scored the first goal of her career 20 minutes later to seal the win.
In a close, back-and-forth and physical contest with chances throughout for both sides, Florida State outshot Georgetown 10-9. Both teams posted five shots on goal. GU had five corner kicks and held FSU to two. Ockene tied a career high with four saves, including three in the first half in a goalless game, while her Hoya counterpart stopped two shots. Nine different Seminoles would take shots, led by Touray with two.
