No. 4 Florida State Hosts Stetson Tuesday

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 4 Florida State baseball team will play Stetson on Tuesday, April 21 at Dick Howser Stadium, with first pitch moved up one hour to 5 p.m. ET and the game broadcast live on ACC Network.
 
Prior to the game, beginning at 4:30 p.m., will be a period of reflection. With FSU faculty, staff and students welcomed onto the field, a moment of silence will be held, the Marching Chiefs will play and a doctor from Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare's trauma surgery team will throw out the ceremonial first pitch. The Marching Chiefs also will play the national anthem. First responders and healthcare workers will be honored during the fourth inning.
 
The game is sold out, but fans can purchase tickets on SeatGeek. Limited tickets for FSU students remain available, and admission is free for FSU students with their I.D. at the Haggard Plaza right field gate. Free hot dogs will be available for early-arriving fans courtesy of FSU President Richard McCullough's Office.

Redshirt freshman left-hander Payton Manca (2-1, 3.94 ERA) will make his fourth start of the season for the Seminoles. He will face Hatter junior righty Ethan Phillips (1-2, 2.97 ERA), who makes his ninth start in 10 appearances.
 
Florida State is 29-7 overall, 19-4 at home, 9-3 on the road and 1-0 at a neutral site. FSU is 11-4 in the ACC and leads the conference with a .733 winning percentage. Winners of four in a row, the team is coming off a 19-0 win over USF on April 15. The Seminoles have won eight of their nine series in 2025, four of five in the conference and all three on the road.
 
NATIONALY-RANKED SEMINOLES
The Seminoles are ranked nationally in the top-10 in every major poll this week, including at No. 4 in the D1Baseball top 25. They also are No. 6 in The Athletic rankings, No. 7 in the NCBWA and Coaches polls, No. 8 in this week's Perfect Game ranking and No. 10 according to Baseball America.
 
NOLES BY THE NUMBERS
FSU has scored 301 runs on 404 hits with a .323 batting average, 65 home runs, 166 walks and 44 stolen bases. The pitching staff owns a 4.22 ERA with 144 earned runs allowed in 307.0 innings with 247 hits, 387 strikeouts and 160 walks.
 
Junior infielder Alex Lodise leads the team with a .434 batting average, 66 hits, 47 RBI, 12 doubles and 121 total bases and is second with 13 home runs. Junior outfielder Max Williams paces the squad with 14 home runs and is second with 37 RBI. Junior outfielder Gage Harrelson has 11 stolen bases and is second with a .364 average and 55 hits. On the mound, junior left-handed starter Joey Volini is 8-1 with a 2.39 ERA, 71 strikeouts and 15 walks in 52.2 innings. Among relievers, sophomore lefty Brady Louck has a 2.53 ERA in 10.2 innings and sophomore right-hander John Abraham has 29 strikeouts in 20.0 innings.
 
SERIES HISTORY VS. STETSON
Florida State leads the all-time series against Stetson 69-26, with a 44-11 record at home and a 25-15 record on the road. FSU won the first ever matchup against SU with a 10-1 victory in DeLand, Florida, in 1949. The Seminoles own the largest win streak in the series, a 15-game run from 2013-2018. The two teams have traded results the last five meetings as Florida State took two-of-three in 2024. FSU has won 18 in a row at home in the series.
 
The Seminoles earned a 1-0 win on March 19, 2024, followed by a 10-5 road loss on May 14. Two weeks later in the NCAA Tournament, Florida State posted a 7-2 win on May 31. Williams hit a leadoff home run to help FSU to a fourth consecutive regional-opening win.
 
SCOUTING THE HATTERS
Stetson is 27-14 on the season and 13-7 at home, 11-6 on the road and 3-1 at a neutral site. The Hatters are 16-2 in conference play and are first in the ASUN with a conference championship berth clinched. Stetson is coming off a series sweep at Queens and has won 10 of its last 11 games. Against top-25 teams, the Hatters are 0-1 after a 6-1 home loss to then-No. 8 Florida on February 25. 
 
Isaiah Barkett leads the team with a .388 average, 50 hits, nine doubles and 31 runs scored. Shortstop Lorenzo Meola has been named to the 2025 Brooks Wallace Player of the Year Watch List and has started all 41 games and paces the team with 54 hits. On the mound, Jonathan Gonzalez owns a 1.66 ERA in 65.0 innings.
 
UP NEXT: TOP-25 ON THE ROAD
FSU travels to No. 19 Louisville for a top-20 series from April 25-27. The series in Louisville, Kentucky, begins on Friday, April 25, at 6 p.m. ET, followed by a 2 p.m. matchup on Saturday, April 26. The finale is on Sunday, April 27, at 3 p.m. on ACC Network. Friday and Saturday will air on ACCNX.
