No. 10 Softball Travels to Clemson for First ACC Road Series

TALLAHASSEE - The No. 10 Florida State softball team (29-4, 6-0) travels to Clemson (23-10, 6-3) for a big-time ACC matchup this weekend. First pitch for Friday is set for 6 p.m. on ACCNX. Saturday's first pitch will be at 1 p.m., and Sunday's game will be at 6 p.m. Both games can be seen on ACC Network. Alex Perlman (Play by Play) and Erin Miller (Color) will be on the call for all three games.

Seminoles Travel to Clemson for First ACC Road Series

FSU hopes to continue its winning ways this weekend as it heads to Clemson for its first road ACC series of the season.
FSU has won 18-consecutive games which is the program's longest win streak since 2023 and is the fourth-longest active streak in college softball.
Clemson enters this weekend's contest 23-10 and 6-3 in ACC play. The Tigers are coming off a big 8-0 run-rule victory at No. 24 South Carolina on Wednesday night.
The Tigers have ranked wins over Oregon, Georgia, Mississippi State and South Carolina.
This weekend provides a huge RPI opportunity for the Seminoles as Clemson sits at No. 19 in the RPI while FSU is 10th. The Noles have played just five games against teams inside the top 25 of the RPI and are 1-4 in those games.
Clemson was the top team to receive votes outside of the top 25 of the ESPN.com/USA Softball Top 25 Poll.

Series History

FSU has dominated Clemson in its short history, and the two teams have played in some high leverage games.
FSU leads the all-time series against Clemson 7-1 including a 3-0 advantage in Clemson.
The Tigers got the best of the Seminoles last year in the ACC Championship Game with a 2-1 win over FSU. The Noles had won the previous seven meetings.
The one and only time FSU has played in Clemson was in 2023 which featured a top 10 matchup. The sixth-ranked Seminoles swept No. 4 Clemson and outscored the Tigers 14-3 in the three games.

Last Time Out

The Noles continued to roll with four-consecutive run-rule wins over Cal and North Florida.
FSU outscored its opponents 38-3 in those four games.
Offensively, the Noles hit .457 as a team and hit seven home runs. The Noles were led by NFCA National Player of the Week Shelby McKenzie who hit .667 with two home runs and eight RBI.
Isa Torres continued her hot play as she hit .692 over the course of the four games with one home run and six RBI.

Torres Putting Together One of the Greatest Offensive Runs in College Softball History

It's been 12 games since Isa Torres has returned from injury, and all she has done is put together one of the most impressive offensive runs in college softball history.
In her last 12 games, Torres is 33-for-40 (.825) with three home runs and 18 RBI.
Torres went on a record-breaking run where she set the NCAA record for consecutive hits as Torres went 16-for-16 over the course of seven games from March 8-21.
Torres also reached base in 23 consecutive plate appearances which is the third-longest streak in NCAA history and is a new FSU record.
Even after missing eight games, Torres is still 10th in the country with 46 hits.
Torres leads the country with a .655 batting average and is second in the country with a .704 on-base percentage.
Torres also ranks fourth in the country in hits, sixth in the country in doubles and 10th in the country in slugging percentage.
In the March 6 win at Coastal Carolina, Torres set a school record with six hits in six at-bats for the Seminoles.
Torres is just the third Seminole to record over five hits in a game and is the first Division I player since 2017 to record six hits in a seven-inning game.
Torres leads the NCAA with a .648 batting average.
Over the course of her career, Torres is hitting .442 which ranks sixth among active D1 players but is second among active DI players that have recorded over 475 at bats.
Torres has also been rock solid at shortstop this season as the junior has not committed an error in 70 chances.
Against Dartmouth, Torres hit an inside-the-park home run to end the game in six innings. Torres was the first Seminole to hit an inside-the-park home run since Carsyn Gordon on May 19, 2018.
Torres had a record season in 2025 as she broke the FSU record with a .436 batting average.
Maybe the most impressive stat in Torres' 2025 season was that she struck out just five times in 218 at bats.
Torres tallied 95 hits in 2025 which was the third most in FSU history.
Torres was a Top 10 Finalist for the USA Softball Player of the Year award and was a unanimous Preseason All-American.

Noles at a Glance

FSU returns two NFCA All-Americans in Isa Torres (First Team) and Kennedy Harp (Second Team). Torres and Harp have the second-highest combined batting average of returning players in college softball. Torres (.436) and Harp (.412) hit a combined .424 last season. The only duo to have a higher batting average was Jordy Frahm (.462) and Ava Kuszak (.412) at Nebraska
In the circle, the Noles return the top pitching duo in the ACC in Jazzy Francik and Ashtyn Danley. Francik (1.51) and Danley (1.60) had the two-lowest ERAs in the ACC and have the lowest combined ERA of any returning duo in college softball.
FSU is one of two programs in the Power Four to not have a transfer on its roster. Virginia is the only other P4 team to not have a transfer on its roster.
FSU brings in nine true freshmen, and the class was ranked the No. 3 overall class by On3. Bella Ruggiero is also a redshirt freshman who was the No. 13 overall player by On3.
The Noles had an ACC-leading five players on the All-ACC Team as Jaysoni Beachum, Ashtyn Danley, Jazzy Francik, Kennedy Harp and Isa Torres were all named to the team.

FSU's Offense Catching Fire

FSU has only been known for its success in the circle, but the offense has been one of the nation's best the past couple of seasons and has caught fire in its last 15 games.
In its last 15 games, FSU is hitting .415 and is averaging 10 runs per game and has pounded 22 home runs.
FSU has drawn 73 walks in its last 15 games compared to just 17 strikeouts.
In its first 18 games of the season, FSU hit .334 and had 15 home runs and averaged 6.77 runs per game.
FSU currently leads the country with 70 doubles, eighth in the country in triples, ninth in the country in batting average, 11th in the country in on-base percentage, 11th in the country in runs per game, 12th in the country in slugging percentage and 13th in the country in hits.
In 2025, FSU finished in the top 10 in the country in batting average, hits, RBI, runs per game and triples.
FSU scored the fourth-most runs in school history last season and had the fourth-most hits in school history. The Noles also hit the third-most home runs in school history last season.

Seeing Double(s) and Triple(S)

One thing about the Noles is that if they can get extra bases, they will.
FSU has been one of the nation's best teams at hitting doubles the past five seasons and this year is no different.
FSU has ranked in the top 25 in doubles every year for the past five seasons and has ranked in the top 10 in doubles in three of those seasons. FSU led the nation in doubles in 2023.
This year, FSU leads the country with 70 doubles and is on pace to break the school record of 122 doubles which was set in 2023.
Isa Torres leads the ACC with 13 doubles which also ranks sixth in the country.
FSU has also been great at getting three bags this season.
FSU ranks eighth in the country with 14 triples.
Last season, FSU finished seventh in the country with 21 triples.

Noles Have Improved Immensely Defensively in 2026

One of FSU's most improved areas this season has been in the field.
So far this season, FSU holds a .983 fielding percentage which ranks sixth in the country and 1st in the ACC.
FSU has committed just 12 errors in 765 chances.
FSU is also one of the best teams in the country in turning double plays. FSU has turned 14 double plays this season which leads the ACC and is 16th in the country.
Last season, FSU had a .963 fielding percentage that ranked 131st in the country and 10th in the ACC.

The Core: FSU's Junior Class Looking to Add to Success

Lonni Alameda's 2023 recruiting class has hit at a high rate with Jaysoni Beachum, Angelee Bueno, Ashtyn Danley, Mimi Gooden, Kennedy Harp and Isa Torres.
The six players have combined for three NFCA All-America honors, six All-ACC honors and one NFCA Freshman of the Year award.
The six players have combined to make 574 starts for the Garnet and Gold in three seasons.

FSU Freshmen Shining Early

Lonni Alameda expected big things out of the freshmen class this season, and they have delivered so far.
Through 29 games, Marin Heller, Makenna Sturgis, Anna Hinde and Hayley Griggs have combined to hit .337 with 11 home runs and 77 RBI.
In the win over FAU, 9 out of FSU's 13 hits came from true freshmen and 7 out of FSU's 9 RBI came from true freshmen.
Coach Alameda started four freshmen on opening day for the first time in her time at Florida State. FSU and NC State are the only P4 programs to start four true freshmen on opening day.

Beachum Continues to be One of Nation's Most Dangerous Bats

Jaysoni Beachum has become one of the nation's most dangerous bats in all of the country and looks to be back to her normal self in 2026.
So far in 2026, Beachum is hitting .384 with six home runs and a team-leading 43 RBI.
Beachum has reached base safely in her last 21 games.
Beachum has also been walked 30 times this season giving her a .541 on base percentage. Beachum has drawn 0.91 walks per game which leads the ACC and is ninth in the entire country.
In three seasons, Beachum holds a .366 batting average with 33 home runs and 154 RBI.
Beachum's 33 home runs ranks 10th all-time in FSU history.
After winning the NFCA Freshman of the Year award in 2024, Beachum's numbers took a dip, but she was still very effective as she hit 11 home runs and 45 RBI.
In her freshman season, Beachum hit .417 which is the fourth-best mark in FSU history.
Also in her freshman campaign, Beachum broke the freshman record with 66 RBI and had the second-most home runs as a freshman in FSU history with 16.

Francik Leading FSU in the Circle

Jazzy Francik has picked up right where she left off in her freshman campaign in 2025.
So far this season, Francik has a 12-1 record and 1.75 ERA.
Francik has allowed just 18 earned runs and has 59 strikeouts.
Francik won back-to-back ACC Pitcher of the Week awards to start the season. Francik is the first FSU pitcher to win back-to-back ACC Pitcher of the Week awards since Meghan King in 2019.
On opening week, Francik picked up three wins, did not allow a run in 17 innings and threw a no-hitter on opening night against Samford.
Francik's no-hitter against Samford was the second no-hitter on opening day in FSU history. Francik joined Julie Larsen who threw a no-hitter against West Florida on opening day in 1986.
Francik's 17 consecutive scoreless innings was the longest streak to start a season since Meghan King in 2019. King threw 18 scoreless innings to start the season.
Francik finished 2025 with a 1.51 ERA which was the lowest ERA in the ACC and the lowest ERA of any freshman in the country.
Francik finished with a 10-3 record and pitched 92.2 innings.
Francik recorded eight saves which was a freshman record at FSU and the second-most in school history.
Francik struck out 87 batters and surrendered just 19 walks and held opponents to just a .191 batting average.
Francik allowed just 14 extra base hits in 2025.
On May 3, 2025, Francik threw the first ever no-hitter against a ranked opponent against Virginia Tech. It was also the first no-hitter by a FSU true freshman since Lacey Waldrop in 2012.

Shelby McKenzie Heating up in the Box

Shelby McKenzie has come onto the scene in the last two weeks in a big way and has become another dangerous bat for the Noles in the lineup.
In the last six games, McKenzie is hitting .692 with four home runs and 11 RBI. In her first 27 games, McKenzie had just three home runs and 12 RBI.
McKenzie has recorded a RBI in her last eight games.
McKenzie had a home run in three-consecutive games against Syracuse and Cal.
McKenzie had a career game against Cal on March 20 where the sophomore had her first multi-home run game and had a career high five RBI.

Kennedy Harp Looking for Another Big Season Following Injury

Kennedy Harp came onto the scene in a big way in 2025, but her season was cut short due to a season-ending knee injury on April 27 but returned to full action on Feb. 25 and did not disappoint.
Harp started all five games against FAMU, FGCU and Rutgers and hit .583 with one home run and a team-leading seven RBI. Harp recorded a hit in all five games she played.
Harp is hitting .333 with three home runs and 17 RBI.
In 49 games, Harp hit .412 with nine home runs and 49 RBI with a .765 slugging percentage.
Harp added 10 triples which was the third-most in FSU history and the most in the country.
Harp broke the school record for most consecutive games with an RBI as Harp recorded a RBI in her first 10 games to start the 2025 season.

Danley Taking Another Step in Junior Season

The past two seasons, Ashtyn Danley has taken the reins as a leader in the circle for the Seminoles and has not disappointed.
In three seasons with the Garnet and Gold, Danley holds a 38-9 record and a 2.59 ERA in 286 innings.
So far this season, Danley is 6-1 with 16 appearances in the circle and holds a 3.08 ERA.
Danley has taken a huge jump offensively this season as she has already reached her 2025 hits and RBI totals. Danley is hitting .340 with four home runs and 25 RBI.
In her last five games, Danley has recorded 11 RBI on five hits.
Danley made a huge jump between her freshman and sophomore seasons in the circle as she posted a 1.60 ERA last season after a 3.20 ERA in her freshman season.
Danley's 1.60 ERA last season ranked 11th in the country and was second behind Francik in the ACC.
In her last seven appearances of 2025, Danley allowed just one earned run over the course of 20.1 innings.
Danley also saw more time in the batter's box last season was great for FSU as she hit .386 in 70 at bats with two home runs and 14 RBI.

Anna Hinde Off to Hot Start in Garnet and Gold Career

Anna Hinde has had no troubles adapting to the college game so far in her young career.
Hinde is hitting .347 and has reached base in 27 out of the 33 games this season and has recorded a hit in 23 out of the 33 games.
Hinde went on an 8-game hitting streak from Feb. 12-21 which included games against No. 1 Texas Tech, No. 7 UCLA, No. 3 Tennessee and No. 9 Alabama.

Makenna Sturgis' Bat Heating Up for the Noles

Makenna Sturgis has been another breakout freshman for the Seminoles and is coming off the best weekend of her young career.
Sturgis is hitting .397 this season and has three home runs and 22 RBI.
Sturgis has scored a run in her last seven games.
In the Dugout Club Classic, Sturgis hit .600 with one home run and four RBI.
Sturgis had a stretch against Alabama (2x), Dartmouth and Elon where she went 6-for-6 with three RBI and a home run. Sturgis was 4-for-5 in the two games against Alabama.
