No. 12 Softball Looks for Bounce Back Weekend Against North Carolina

TALLAHASSEE - The No. 12 Florida State softball team (36-7, 12-3) returns home this week to take on North Carolina (31-11, 9-9) at JoAnne Graf field. First pitch for Friday is at 6 p.m.on ACCNX. Saturday's game will be at 3 p.m. on the ACC Network and Sunday's game will be at noon on ACCNX. Shawn Davison (Play by Play), Michaela Edenfield (Color) and Meredith Grimm (Sideline) will have the call on Friday and Sunday while Chuckie Kemf (Play by Play) and Jenny Dalton-Hill will have the call on Saturday.Â

Seminoles Look to Rebound Against UNC on Senior Weekend
- The Noles are looking for a bounce back weekend this weekend as they take on North Carolina during senior weekend.Â
- The Tar Heels are 31-11 and 9-9 in ACC play and are coming off a series loss to Duke.Â
- UNC is just 2-9 against ranked opponents.
- UNC poses one of the top offenses in the country as it ranks top 10 nationally in batting average, home runs, runs per game and slugging percentage.Â
- This weekend is senior weekend, and the Noles will be honoring two seniors in Madi Frey and Makenna Reid pregame on Sunday. The Noles will also be honoring its senior managers and graduate assistants pregame on Saturday.Â

- FSU leads the all-time series against North Carolina 78-27.
- FSU is 29-9 all-time against UNC in Tallahassee.Â

Torres Putting Together One of the Greatest Seasons in College Softball History
- It's been 22 games since Isa Torres has returned from injury, and all she has done is put together one of the most impressive offensive runs in college softball history.Â
- In her last 22 games, Torres is 48-for-76 (.632) with eight home runs and 31 RBI.Â
- Torres went on a record-breaking run where she set the NCAA record for consecutive hits as Torres went 16-for-16 over the course of seven games from March 8-21.Â
- Torres also reached base in 23 consecutive plate appearances which is the third-longest streak in NCAA history and is a new FSU record.Â
- Even after missing eight games, Torres is still fourth in the country with 70 hits.Â
- Torres leads the country with a .583 batting average and is second in the country with a .640 on base percentage.
- Torres also ranks seventh in the country in slugging percentage. Â
- In the March 6 win at Coastal Carolina, Torres set a school record with six hits in six at-bats for the Seminoles.Â
- Torres is just the third Seminole to record over five hits in a game and is the first Division I player since 2017 to record six hits in a seven-inning game.Â
- Torres leads the NCAA with a .648 batting average.
- Over the course of her career, Torres is hitting .442 which ranks second among active DI players that have recorded over 500 at bats.Â
- Torres has also been rock solid at shortstop this season as the junior has not committed an error in 112 chances.Â
- Against Dartmouth, Torres hit an inside-the-park home run to end the game in six innings. Torres was the first Seminole to hit an inside-the-park home run since Carsyn Gordon on May 19, 2018.Â
- Torres had a record season in 2025 as she broke the FSU record with a .436 batting average.Â
- Maybe the most impressive stat in Torres' 2025 season was that she struck out just five times in 218 at bats.Â
- Torres tallied 95 hits in 2025 which was the third most in FSU history.
- Torres was a Top 10 Finalist for the USA Softball Player of the Year award and was a unanimous Preseason All-American.Â
FSU's Offense Proving to be One of Nation's Best Again
- FSU has only been known for its success in the circle, but the offense has been one of the nation's best the past couple of seasons and has caught fire during its win streak.
- FSU currently leads the country in doubles and is fifth in the country in triples, seventh in total runs, eighth in batting average and ninth in RBI
- FSU is averaging 7.86 runs per game which ranks 12th in the country.Â
- In 2025, FSU finished in the top 10 in the country in batting average, hits, RBI, runs per game and triples.Â
- FSU scored the fourth-most runs in school history last season and had the fourth-most hits in school history. The Noles also hit the third-most home runs in school history last season.Â
Seeing Double(s) and Triple(S)
- One thing about the Noles is that if they can get extra bases, they will.Â
- FSU has been one of the nation's best teams at hitting doubles the past five seasons and this year is no different.Â
- FSU has ranked in the top 25 in doubles every year for the past five seasons and has ranked in the top 10 in doubles in three of those seasons. FSU led the nation in doubles in 2023.Â
- This year, FSU leads the country with 90 doubles and is on pace to break the school record of 122 doubles.Â
- Marin Heller is 13th in the country and third in the ACC with 15 doubles. Ashtyn Danley and Isa Torres are tied for 24th nationally and fifth in the ACC with 14 doubles.Â
- FSU has also been great at getting three bags this season.Â
- FSU ranks fifth in the country and second in the ACC with 18 triples.Â
- Isa Torres leads the ACC with five triples.Â
- Last season, FSU finished seventh in the country with 21 triples.Â
Noles Have Improved Immensely Defensively in 2026
- One of FSU's most improved areas this season has been in the field.Â
- So far this season, FSU holds a .983 fielding percentage which ranks fourth in the country and first in the ACC.
- FSU has committed just 18 errors in 1,132 chances.Â
- FSU is also one of the best teams in the country in turning double plays. FSU has turned 25 double plays this season which leads the ACC and is seventh in the country.Â
- Last season, FSU had a .963 fielding percentage that ranked 131st in the country and 10th in the ACC.Â
The Core: FSU's Junior Class Looking to Add to Success
- Lonni Alameda's 2023 recruiting class has hit at a high rate with Jaysoni Beachum, Angelee Bueno, Ashtyn Danley, Mimi Gooden, Kennedy Harp and Isa Torres.Â
- The six players have combined for three NFCA All-America honors, six All-ACC honors and one NFCA Freshman of the Year award.Â
- The six players have combined to make 618 starts for the Garnet and Gold in three seasons.Â
FSU Freshmen Continue to Shine
- Lonni Alameda expected big things out of the freshmen class this season, and they have delivered so far.Â
- Through 43 games, Marin Heller, Makenna Sturgis, Anna Hinde and Hayley Griggs have combined to hit .333 with 13 home runs and 98 RBI.Â
- Coach Alameda started four freshmen on opening day for the first time in her time at Florida State. FSU and NC State are the only P4 programs to start four true freshmen on opening day.Â
Beachum Continues to Be One of Nation's Most Dangerous Bats
- Jaysoni Beachum has become one of the nation's most dangerous bats in all of the country and looks to be back to her normal self in 2026.
- So far in 2026, Beachum is hitting .390 with seven home runs and a team-leading 50 RBI.Â
- Beachum has reached base safely in her last 31 games.Â
- Beachum has also been walked 37 times this season giving her a .531 on base percentage. Beachum has drawn 0.90 walks per game which leads the ACC and is 16th in the entire country.Â
- In three seasons, Beachum holds a .368 batting average with 34 home runs and 161 RBI.Â
- Beachum's 34 home runs ranks ninth all-time in FSU history.Â
- After winning the NFCA Freshman of the Year award in 2024, Beachum's numbers took a dip, but she was still very effective as she hit 11 home runs and 45 RBI.Â
- In her freshman season, Beachum hit .417 which is the fourth-best mark in FSU history.Â
- Also in her freshman campaign, Beachum broke the freshman record with 66 RBI and had the second-most home runs as a freshman in FSU history with 16.Â
Danley Taking Another Step in Junior Season
- The past two seasons, Ashtyn Danley has taken the reins as a leader in the circle for the Seminoles and has not disappointed.Â
- In three seasons with the Garnet and Gold, Danley holds a 40-9 record and a 2.56 ERA in 312 innings.Â
- So far this season, Danley is 8-1 with 24 appearances in the circle and holds a 2.56 ERA.
- Danley has been terrific as of late in the circle as she holds a 1.93 ERA in ACC play and a 3-0 record with two saves.Â
- Danley has taken a huge jump offensively this season as she has already reached her 2025 hits and RBI totals. Danley is hitting .348 with four home runs and 33 RBI.Â
- Danley made a huge jump between her freshman and sophomore seasons in the circle as she posted a 1.60 ERA last season after a 3.20 ERA in her freshman season.Â
- Danley's 1.60 ERA last season ranked 11th in the country and was second behind Francik in the ACC.
- In her last seven appearances of 2025, Danley allowed just one earned run over the course of 20.1 innings.Â
Francik Leading FSU in the Circle
- Jazzy Francik has picked up right where she left off in her freshman campaign in 2025.Â
- So far this season, Francik has a 15-2 record and 2.01 ERA.
- Francik won back-to-back ACC Pitcher of the Week awards to start the season. Francik is the first FSU pitcher to win back-to-back ACC Pitcher of the Week awards since Meghan King in 2019.Â
- On opening week, Francik picked up three wins, did not allow a run in 17 innings and threw a no-hitter on opening night against Samford.Â
- Francik's no-hitter against Samford was the second no-hitter on opening day in FSU history. Francik joined Julie Larsen who threw a no-hitter against West Florida on opening day in 1986.Â
- Francik's 17 consecutive scoreless innings was the longest streak to start a season since Meghan King in 2019. King threw 18 scoreless innings to start the season.Â
- Francik finished 2025 with a 1.51 ERA which was the lowest ERA in the ACC and the lowest ERA of any freshman in the country.Â
- Francik finished with a 10-3 record and pitched 92.2 innings.Â
- Francik recorded eight saves which was a freshman record at FSU and the second-most in school history.
- Francik struck out 87 batters and surrendered just 19 walks and held opponents to just a .191 batting average.Â
- Francik allowed just 14 extra base hits in 2025.Â
- On May 3, 2025, Francik threw the first ever no-hitter against a ranked opponent against Virginia Tech. It was also the first no-hitter by a FSU true freshman since Lacey Waldrop in 2012. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
Kennedy Harp Having another Solid Season Following InjuryÂ
- Kennedy Harp came onto the scene in a big way in 2025, but her season was cut short due to a season-ending knee injury on April 27 but returned to full action on Feb. 25 and did not disappoint.Â
- Harp started all five games against FAMU, FGCU and Rutgers and hit .583 with one home run and a team-leading seven RBI. Harp recorded a hit in all five games she played.Â
- Harp is hitting .306 with four home runs and 24 RBI.Â
- In 49 games in 2025, Harp hit .412 with nine home runs and 49 RBI with a .765 slugging percentage.Â
- Harp added 10 triples which was the third-most in FSU history and the most in the country.Â
- Harp broke the school record for most consecutive games with an RBI as Harp recorded a RBI in her first 10 games to start the 2025 season.Â
Anna Hinde Off to Hot Start in Garnet and Gold Career
- Anna Hinde has had no troubles adapting to the college game so far in her young career.Â
- Hinde is hitting .340 and has reached base in 36 out of the 43 games this season and has recorded a hit in 30 out of the 43 games.
- Hinde has hit six home runs and 29 RBI.Â
- Hinde went on an 8-game hitting streak from Feb. 12-21 which included games against No. 1 Texas Tech, No. 7 UCLA, No. 3 Tennessee and No. 9 Alabama.Â
Coacha Reaches 1,000 Career Wins
- Coach Alameda reached another milestone on March 29 against Clemson as Alameda recorded her 1,000th career win.Â
- Alameda is the 12th active head coach to reach the 1,000 win milestone.Â
- FSU is one of just two programs (FSU and Tennessee) to have had two coaches who have reached 1,000 wins. JoAnne Graf recorded 1,186 wins in 25 seasons.Â
ACC Dominance
- The Seminoles have been the queens of the ACC ever since Coach Alameda has been on campus since 2009.Â
- Coach Alameda has lost just 13 ACC series in her 18 years at Florida State.Â
- Since 2011. FSU has lost just six ACC seriesÂ
- FSU has been swept just twice in ACC play under Coach Alameda (North Carolina 2011, Stanford 2026).Â

- JoAnne Graf Field is one of the nation's toughest places to play and this year is no different.Â
