Florida State Heads to Texas for Jackson T. Stephens Cup

TALLAHASSEE – Five days after opening the 2026-27 season with a team title, the Florida State women's golf team will be back in action taking part in the sixth annual Jackson T. Stephens Cup.

The event returns to the DFW area for the first time since 2023 as the premier invitational will be hosted at Fields Ranch East at PGA Frisco, the home of PGA of America in Frisco, Texas.

The Seminoles are one of six teams in a stacked field with all five opponents ranked in the top 15 of the Golfweek preseason rankings, including ACC foes Stanford (No. 1) and Wake Forest (No. 6) as well as Texas (No. 3), South Carolina (No. 15), and Oregon (No. 12).

Stroke play will take place Monday (36 holes) and Tuesday (18 holes). The top four teams will then advance to match play on Wednesday. The event will be nationally televised on the Golf Channel with live stats available at Scoreboard.

Florida State opened the season in championship fashion, overcoming a seven-stroke deficit in round three to win the Folds of Honor Collegiate. Entering the final round in third place and seven shots behind Kansas, the Seminoles fired a five-under 283 to finish at three-under to claim the team title. It was the largest deficit overcome by FSU in the final round of a tournament since 2006 when the Seminoles overcame a nine-shot deficit to jump five spots and win the Cougar Classic.

It marked the first time since 2016 that Florida State won its season-opening event. It was also career team win No. 30 for head coach Amy Bond.

Haruhi Nakatani made it a sweep for the Seminoles as the sophomore shot four-under 68 in round three to clinch her first collegiate title. She finished at six-under 210 (72-70-68) for the tournament and shared medalist honors at the Folds of Honor Collegiate.

Preseason All-American Sophia Fullbrook provided another steady performance, shooting one-under 215 for the tournament, earning her a ninth-place finish. It marked her 10th career top 10 finish as a Seminole (eighth in her last 12 events).

The Seminoles, ranked No. 8 in the Golf Channel preseason poll and No. 21 in the Golfweek preseason poll, will be represented by Nakatani and Fullbrook as well as Louise Landgraf, Alexandra Gazzoli, and Elin Pudas Remler.

This will be the second time Florida State will participate in the Jackson T. Stephens Cup, taking part in the event back in 2024. Despite finishing in a tie for fourth in the team standings, the Seminoles fell short of advancing to match play due to losing the tiebreaker.

Along with the six teams playing in the Jackson T. Stephens Cup, a total of six individuals from Navy, Howard, Prairie View A&M, and Jackson State will also participate.
