- Title:
- Quality Control & Catching, Pitching Analyst
Rob Collison is in his third season as FSU’s quality control analyst for catching and pitching in 2026 after joining the program in 2023-24.
Collison has helped FSU to back-to-back NCAA Super Regional appearances in 2024-25, one of five programs to achieve that feat, with a berth in the College World Series in 2024.
He previously was an assistant coach at Walters State Community College in Morristown, Tennessee, where he had a hand in all areas of the program, including recruiting, hitting and pitching, while also running practices for the catchers. He would create scouting reports through Synergy data and analyze Rapsodo stadium data.
Prior to joining Walters State, Collison was a bullpen catcher and coaching apprentice with the Houston Astros. After spending Spring Training with the Astros – where he caught bullpens and tossed batting practice – he spent the regular season with the Asheville Tourists, the Astros High-A affiliate, where he assisted the pitchers with pitch design using TrackMan and Edgertronic.
Collison spent five years at Samford University, as a bullpen catcher from 2017-20 and as a graduate assistant coach in 2021. The Bulldogs won the Southern Conference tournament and reached the NCAA postseason in 2018 and 2021 with Collison.
