BIO:
Third-year Seminole who is the lone specialist in the javelin on the roster…competed in seven meets…posted a pair of top-three finishes and capped sophomore campaign with his season-best at the ACC Championships.
2018
Outdoor: Opened up at the UCF Black & Gold Challenge where he was ninth with a solid throw of 56.87m (186-7)…recorded a victory at the Pepsi Florida Relays with a throw of 56.60 meters…finished third at the Seminole Twilight (55.79m) in his ACC Outdoor Championships tune-up…unleashed his season-best throw of 57.50m (188-8) to finish 11th at the ACC Championships.
2017:
Outdoor – Competed in seven meets…posted three top-five finishes…won his collegiate debut in the javelin at the FAMU Relays and also scored a victory at the Seminole Twilight…appeared on track for a big year when posted his collegiate-best throw of 59.75 meters (196-0) for seventh place against stout competition at the FSU Relays…narrowly missed a spot in the finals at the ACC Championships, finishing 10th.
BEFORE FSU:
An all-around athlete who excelled throwing all implements at Morris Hills High, but also competed in the sprints and hurdles…a two-time New Jersey Meet of Champions qualifier in the javelin, he owns a high school personal-best of 192-9…won his section title as a senior in 2014 and advanced to the finals at the Meet of Champions…also owns PBs of 143-6 (discus), 50-9 (shot put), 6.99 (60-meter dash) and 8.32 (60-meter hurdles).
Personal:
Attended County College of Morris (2014-15) and took a year off from school before enrolling at FSU in the fall of 2016…an honor roll student as a senior at Morris Hills…played three years of football and was an All-County linebacker as a junior…the son of Edward and Judy McClain…brother Eddie was NCAA West Preliminary qualifier in the javelin at Arizona State with a PB of 66.64m (218-8)…undecided on major…born June 6, 1996.
