Noles End March With Series-Clinching Win vs. Louisville

TALLAHASSEE – No. 17 Florida State (22-4,5-4 ACC) got the win against Louisville (17-11, 3-6 ACC) 9-4 Saturday afternoon in Dick Howser Stadium to take the series, two games to one. The Noles were able to hit two separate multi-run home runs on their way to secure the victory.
James Tibbs III had an effective day hitting the ball. The junior from Marietta, Georgia, went 4-for-4, had two RBI, and a two-run home run, his 11th of the year. In addition to Tibbs, freshman Cal Fisher also contributed big for the Noles by going 2-for-4, having two RBI, and soaring a two-run home run that gave FSU the lead in the fourth inning.
Connor Whittaker (4-0) earned the win, allowing three runs in 5.0 innings. The FSU bullpen allowed one unearned run in 4.0 innings; for the week, FSU relievers did not allow an earned run in 17.1 innings.

OF NOTE:
- James Tibbs III hit his team-high 11th home run of the season. He has 38 for his career, top 25 nationally among active players.
- Tibbs was 4-for-4, tying a career high hits. He has two of FSU's four four-hit games this year.
- Cam Smith singled before Tibbs' home run, extending his on-base streak to 36 games. His six-game hitting streak is the longest active streak on the team. Smith was 2-for-5 Saturday, his team-high 16th multi-hit game.
- Jaime Ferrer extend his on-base streak to 32 games on a fifth-inning single. He scored a run and had an RBI in FSU's three-run seventh inning.
- Freshman Cal Fisher earned his first career start at shortstop. He is the first freshman position player to start this season. He was 2-for-4 and hit a go-ahead two-run home run in the fourth inning, his second of the year. He is 7-for-15 on the season.
- DeAmez Ross returned to the starting lineup after missing seven games with an injury and playing off the bench for the first two games of the series. He opened the game with a single and added an RBI in the eighth inning.
- Official attendance was 6,018, FSU's largest of the year.
- Marco Dinges tripled for the second consecutive game.
- Brennen Oxford, Joe Charles, Carson Dorsey and Andrew Armstrong allowed four hits and one unearned run in 4.0 innings. In the last four games, FSU's bullpen has allowed eight hits and one unearned run in 17.1 innings.
