TALLAHASSEE – Florida State had four more players selected in the 2024 MLB Draft Monday, with Marco Dinges getting selected in the fourth round at pick 123 by the Milwaukee Brewers and Jaime Ferrer going three picks later at 126 by the Minnesota Twins.
Pitcher Carson Dorsey was selected with pick 219 in the seventh round by the Baltimore Orioles while Gavin Adams was taken in the eighth round at 234 by the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Those four join James Tibbs III and Cam Smith, who were taken at picks 13 and 14 overall in the first round Sunday night. FSU's four picks through four rounds, five picks through seven rounds and six picks through eight rounds are all school records. The Noles six draft selections are the most in the ACC.
Dinges, from Beekman, New York, was selected as a catcher by the Brewers after earning second-team All-Region and third-team All-ACC honors in his first season at Florida State. The Tallahassee State College transfer hit .323 with 12 doubles, two triples and 15 home runs. He finished with 38 walks against just 37 strikeouts with 69 RBI.
He started 62 of his 64 games played, with 61 coming as the Seminoles' designated hitter.
Ferrer started 175 of the 176 games he played at Florida State, hitting .320 with 49 doubles, six triples and 38 home runs over his three seasons in the Garnet and Gold. The Bayamon, Puerto Rico, native hit a career-high 22 home runs in 2024, with three coming in the College World Series en route to being named to the All-Tournament Team.
Ferrer hit .317 with 73 hits and earned 41 free passes (25 walks, team-high 16 hit by pitch) to match his 41 strikeouts. In addition to his All-CWS team honors, Ferrer was third-team All-ACC, an Academic All-District selection and a three-time member of the All-ACC Academic Team and ACC Academic Honor Roll.
Dorsey, from Panama City Beach, Florida, finished 8-4 with a 4.60 ERA and 88 strikeouts in 76.1 innings pitched. Thrown into the rotation in the middle of the season, Florida State was 9-2 in Dorsey's 11 starts. In the postseason, Dorsey was at his best, finishing 3-0 with a 2.14 ERA and 20 strikeouts with wins against Stetson in the Tallahassee Regional, UConn in the Super Regional and Virginia in the College World Series. Dorsey was a Gold Glove finalist after leading FSU with seven pickoffs.
Adams, a right-handed pitcher from Boynton Beach, Florida, was injured prior to the 2024 season and did not compete for the Seminoles. A transfer from Indian River State College, Adams was selected in the 11th round of the 2023 draft before electing to attend Florida State.
Dinges is FSU's first selection by the Brewers since 2009 and ninth overall. The last Seminole taken by the Twins, pitcher Cole Sands, is currently with the big league team; Ferrer is the 13th Seminole drafted by Minnesota.
Dorsey is the eighth player taken by the Orioles and the third FSU pitcher in the past four drafts, joining Conor Grady in 2021 and Jackson Baumeister in 2023. Adams is the eighth Seminole and fifth FSU pitcher selected by the Pirates.
The 2024 MLB Draft will conclude Tuesday with rounds 11-20 beginning at 2:00 p.m. ET.
