Florida State is 10-2-3 on the season and earned the No. 4 seed in the six-team ACC Championship after a 20-point, 6-2-2 conference season. Following a 4-1 victory on Thursday night against Wake Forest to clinch the ACC berth, the Seminoles are 6-1-1 at home, 4-1-2 on the road and 2-2-0 against top-25 foes.
Making its 31st ACC Championship appearance, FSU is now the only team to make the postseason tournament every year in its history. Florida State is second among all teams with 11 titles, including the last five in a row, and fourth with 31 appearances in what has been a six-team event since 2021. Only one other team joins the Seminoles with more than two postseason championships. After their first season in 1995, the team won its first title in 2011, followed by four in a row from 2013-16, another crown in 2018 before the current five-year streak began in 2020.
In a rematch of a regular-season matchup from just 10 days ago, Virginia comes to Tallahassee with a 12-2-3 record and a 6-2-2 mark in the ACC to finish tied for fourth with FSU on 20 points. The Seminoles got the tiebreaker thanks to a 3-2 win in Charlottesville, Virginia, on October 23 at then-No. 3 UVA.
FSU has scored 43 goals with 45 assists on 275 shots and 126 shots on goal in 2025. In 15 games, the team has allowed 13 goals on 98 shots, 39 on target, with 26 saves for a 0.870 goals-against average and a .667 save percentage.
Junior forward Jordynn Dudley leads the team with 29 points, 11 assists and 56 shots and is second with nine goals and 22 shots on goal. She has scored two goals in back-to-back games and has a point in 13 consecutive games with multiple points in four of the last five matches. Sophomore forward Wrianna Hudson paces the team with 11 goals and 24 shots on goal and is second with 23 points. In goal, redshirt sophomore Addie Todd has made 17 saves in her nine appearances for a .708 save percentage and a 0.84 goals-against average.
In the national rankings, FSU is No. 5 in the country in goals per game (2.87), No. 7 in assists per game (3.00) and points per game (8.73), No. 8 in shots per game (18.33), No. 9 in goal differential (+30), No. 10 in shots on goal per game (8.40) and No. 17 in corner kicks per game (6.80).
Individually, Dudley is second in the NCAA in assists per game (0.73), fourth in total assists (11), 11th in points per game (1.93) and 16th in total points (29). Hudson ranks No. 9 in shot accuracy (.649) and No. 19 in goals per game (0.73).
In the polls, Florida State moved up five spots to No. 6 in this week's United Soccer Coaches top-25. The Seminoles also are fifth in the Top Drawer Soccer poll. FSU is No. 8 in the latest RPI, while the team was No. 6 in the first DI Top-16 Committee Rankings, unveiled on October 12.
SERIES HISTORY VS. VIRGINIA
In a series that began in 1995 and was last played just 10 days ago, FSU is 13-21-8 all-time against Virginia, including 7-17-5 in ACC matchups and 4-4-3 in the ACC Championship. The Seminoles are 4-7-4 at home, 3-9-1 on the road and 5-4-2 at a neutral site. Florida State is unbeaten in five straight and is 13-6-3 since a 2-1 win at the 2011 ACC Championship. That stretch includes a 3-0 win later in the 2011 NCAA Tournament that sent the Seminoles to the College Cup. The streak also includes two memorable 1-0 wins, in the 2014 national championship game to win the program's first NCAA title and the 2021 ACC championship game, along with a 2-2 draw and PK triumph in the 2015 ACC championship match.
Following a 3-2 road win on October 23, FSU has won four in a row against UVA. It started with a 1-0 win in the 2021 ACC title game, the last postseason matchup between the two sides, followed by a 1-0 victory in Charlottesville in 2022 and a 4-0 triumph a year ago in Tallahassee.
Two games ago for FSU, and three for UVA, then-No. 11 Florida State scored the game-winning goal with just 80 seconds remaining to beat then-No. 3 Virginia 3-2 on October 23 in Charlottesville, Virginia. Dudley recorded a brace and had the game-winning assist, while Hudson netted the game winner. Their efforts helped the Seminoles earn their first top-10 road win since 2023 and their first victory over a top-three team in the regular season, home or away, since a 1-0 win at No. 2 Virginia on October 6, 2022.
On a chilly night in Charlottesville, the Cavaliers took a 1-0 lead just after halftime before Dudley tied it 10 minutes later in the 59th minute. Less than five minutes passed for Dudley to get her second to give FSU a 2-1 advantage. UVA tied it at 2-2 in the 79th minute only for Hudson to win it in the 89th.
The contest marked the third time in four games, all in a 15-day span, that the Seminoles played a team that was ranked No. 3 or higher in the national polls.
