No. 10 Softball Stays Hot in 11-6 Win Over Syracuse

3/15/2026 3:00:00 PM | Softball

TALLAHASSEE – The No. 10 Florida State softball team (25-4, 3-0) completed the series sweep against Syracuse (11-10, 0-3) to open ACC play on Sunday afternoon at the Seminole Softball Complex.

The Seminoles recorded two multiple-run innings on their way to their 25th victory of the season. Florida State scored 11 runs on 10 hits and recorded no errors.

Bella Dimitrijevic recorded her career-high of six strikeouts in 3.2 innings in her start on Sunday afternoon. Marlee Gaskill picked up her second win of the season to move to 2-0, and Jazzy Francik recorded her first save of the season.

The Seminole offense came alive early, blasting two home runs in just the first inning. After Isa Torres reached first on an infield single, Jaysoni Beachum hit a home run to deep center field to make it 2-0

Two more singles and a HBP would load the bases in the bottom of the first for the Seminoles. Ashtyn Danley then hit her first career grand slam to make it 6-0 before the Orange could record an out in the first.

The Seminoles would add an insurance run in the bottom of the third thanks to a solo home run from Shelby McKenzie to make it 7-0.

Syracuse would put up six runs in the top of the fourth inning to cut the Florida State lead to just one, 7-6. Jazzy Franick would come in and pitch three scoreless innings, allowing just three hits and one walk to earn the save.

A four-run 5th inning would seal the victory for Florida State. Marin Heller reached on an error to score Madi Frey. The Seminoles would then load the bases, and Beachum would double into shallow left field to bring home three more runs, extending Florida State's lead to 11-6.

The Seminoles continue their homestand as they host the No. 2 Texas Tech Raiders on Wednesday, March 18, at 6 p.m. on ACC Network. FSU then hosts Cal for a three-game series beginning on Friday, March 20, with first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m.
