TALLAHASSEE – The gallery following sophomore Elin Pudas Remler will grow by two very special people at this weekend's Florida State Match Up. It will include her parents who have traveled more than 4,000 miles to watch their daughter lead the Seminoles into the Florida State Match Up at the Seminole Legacy Golf Club.
For the first time in her collegiate career, Pudas Remler will have the opportunity play with her parents, Malin Remler and Fredrik Pudas, walking each hole of the Seminole Legacy alongside the second-year Seminole.
Pudas Remler and her teammates have an exciting opportunity to defend their team championship at the Florida State Match Up in their home tournament beginning Friday (March 20) and running through Sunday (March 22). Admission and parking are free and spectators are welcome to walk the course in the bright sunshine throughout the three days and 54 holes of competitive golf. The tee times begin at 8:45 on Friday and Saturday and at 8:30 on Sunday.
No. 18 Florida State is joined by No. 28 Eastern Michigan, No. 35 Virginia, No. 53 Illinois, No. 54 Tulsa, No. 55 Alabama, Mercer, Murray State, North Florida, Florida International, Sam Houston State, and Troy in the 13th Annual Florida State Match Up.
The Seminoles won the event in 2025, in two of the last three seasons, and a record five times since the inaugural event in 2013. Mirabel Ting, the Seminoles' All-America and ANNIKA Award winner, won the individual championship in 2025. Ting is one of a record six Seminoles (Matilda Castren in 2014, Morgane Metraux in 2016, Beatrice Wallin in 2021, Amelia Williamson in 2002, Lottie Woad in 2023, and Ting in 2025) who have won the individual championship in Florida State's signature event.
Florida State's lineup consists of Pudas Remler along with sophomores Sophia Fullbrook, Alexandra Gazzoli, Freya Russell, and freshman Haruhi Nakatani. A trio of Seminoles which includes freshman Haley Davis, sophomore Layla Pedrique, and senior Madison Hewlett will play as individual golfers in the field of 67 players.
Pudas Remler hopes to add her name to the list of individual champions by the end of the weekend.
"This tournament means a lot to us as Florida State student-athletes," said Pudas Remler who began her career in the garnet and golf after playing at Kentucky during the fall of 2024. "It means a lot to us as golfers to have the FSU community come out to the course and support us. It means a lot to me and each of my teammates, to our program, and to the women's golf community to have our families, our classmates, and friends of the program to cheer us on at every hole. We have a beautiful course which is very easy to walk. We hope our fans would like to spend a couple of hours with us on the course this weekend.
"It means the world to us to see friendly faces as we work to play well in our only home tournament during the regular season."
Pudas Remler played the best golf of her career at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate in early March. She carded career-best scores for a single-round (66 in the second round), for 36 holes (135), for a tournament score (207), and for her tournament scored vs. par (-6) in earning her career-best second place finish. She set new personal standards for her first round score (69), and a second round score (66) as she totaled two of three scores in the 60s. Pudas Remler finished just one stroke out of first place in the individual standings and led the Seminoles to a second place finish in the power-packed field.
"My putting and my driver were the key clubs for me at the Darius Rucker," said Pudas Remler. "I also enjoyed a great practice round and found the right spots out there which were important. Everything happened to work out during the event."
Her putter was certainly working as she carded 12 birdies during the three rounds, including six as she carded her career low score of 66 in the second round.
The average score for each of the 72 golfers during the Darius Rucker was 74.20. Pudas Remler averaged 69.00 strokes in her three rounds played. She won the battle with the strong winds that blew across the course throughout the event. The average score in the first round was 75.60; Pudas Remler finished with a first round 69.
"There is no series of shots that made me think I would be in contention to win the individual competition," said Pudas Remler. "It was trusting the process to see where that would take me that got me through the week and brought that confidence."
Seminole head coach Amy Bond could see Pudas Remler's confidence growing with each shot.
"Elin performed well under the conditions during each of the three rounds," said Bond, the winningest coach in school history. "She continued to stay in the moment, was very exacting in her preparations, and hit great shots when she needed to. I'll always remember how she held her composure coming up 18. It was wonderful golf to watch."
Pudas earned her second career top-10 finish at the Darius Rucker.
"I feel that my first round (score of 69 with four birdies) was my best round out there," said Pudas Remler. "It was a battle with the weather in the first round. The first round of a tournament is always tough since the track is pretty unknown, and you need to adapt quickly.
Pudas Remler should have at least two advantages in this weekend's Florida State Match Up with the Seminole Legacy being her home collegiate course and her parents following her throughout the event.
"I'm excited to have my parents coming from Sweden to watch me play," said Pudas Remler. "The opportunity to represent FSU at home in front of everyone is always special."
